what i mean is im sure ive read before its possible to take a cd-rom drive with hacked fw and use in another console but can i take mine from a dead premium( was fixing rrod with heatgun trying to engage in conversation and didnt realise i was about 1/2 inch away from PCB=burnt to a crisp, lol) and use it in say a pro or falcon?

also whats the procedure for this, a lot of messing around?

You have to dump the key from your new console, and inject it in the old drive firmware.
Basically, is doing the same usual procedure...

you need to insert the key from your old firmware into the new and then spoof the firmware and flash it. Spoofing it will make the xbox think your new drive is the old, but you only do that if you have 2 different drives or different drive versions
