Does anyone experience this problem on the Pipboy radio stations.

Symptom: The speech from the radio show host works, but as soon as the music starts its choppy and distorted.

Found some threads about this prob here

The solution below crashes the game within 20 sec for me.
(seems that it crashes for everybody else that have tried this as well)

Audio on Vista - Radio Music Skipping and 5.1 Surround Fix For Audigy/X-Fi
Fallout 3, like Oblivion, uses Direct3DSound for audio. Since Vista does not have this so you must get around it using Creative's ALchemy.

* Go get Creative ALchemy for your card. For people who do not have a Creative card, there are projects out there that provides the same service using the OpenAL audio driver. Do a search on Google for more info.
* Once it is installed and you run it, add this info:
-Registry Path (32-bit): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3\Installed Path
-Registry Path (64-bit): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout3\Installed Path
-Buffers: 4
-Duration: 10 or 15
-Max Voice Count: 128
* Then make sure you activate the profile (add to the right list) and close the program.
* Run the game.

If you are still getting skipping, such as ThreeDog speeches skipping instead of the music, adjust the duration in ALchemy.

I actually added Fallout 3 to FFDshow Audio decoder (NOT VIDEO!!!) And it helped to 60%. I can now hear the music, but it still skips sort of in the background. Bearable but still annoying.

Just to clarify, without the half ass fix using FFDshow Audio the music skips big time.

Any tricks to fix this guys, or is the only solution to wait for a patch.

That is the exact fix I used, and it works perfectly. No FFDshow installed, just used Alchemy on a Fatality GamerPro card. I have the duration set at 15, 10 is too low, the default is 25 when you create it, maybe thats where you're going wrong?

im using a x-fi music card and i dont get any skipping in fallout3 using latest drivers (not beta) and I am not using alchemy at all.. The only thing I hear is the music has scratches and pickups in it but im guessing that is normal as its meant to be old records etc..
