Hi
I have this problem when i start the new game, and when the loading screen shows it lasts for eternity and freezes everything (even can't ctrl+alt+delete). I have Vista 32-bit, and my system specs :geforce gtx260, athlon x2 5000+, 2gb ram. I tried game on both nvidia drivers 178.24 and betas 180.42. Someone had this problem ??

Now i've waited about 30 minutes with "loading" screen and in the end it simply resets my pc :/ So one thing I know so far is that this loading screen is not freezed Razz It's just going to reset my pc. Same on far cry 2 game and same on benchmark.

I know mate i've got the same problem.

Untill now i haven't found a fix Sad

But there are more with this problem

So finally I've managed to run the game Smile I've set everything to LOW and dx9 and somehow after another install and cleaning the registry and 'my documents folder' it worked. So I've changed everything to ultra high and dx10 and the problem remains the same RazzRazz It has something to do with graphic settings...

Now I know for sure: it only works once after a clean install, won't run second time on the same low settings...So there must be something with registry too or the config file in documents that rewrites itself after a first run

same thing happened to me, apparently there's a simple solution to this..

try starting the game directly with the exe \..\Far Cry 2\bin\FarCry2.exe instead of using the desktop shortcut, this solved my problem

btw, i'm on xp 32bit, everything on high settings

for me the loading-30-mins-bug has to do with my soundcard (audigy 2 zs)!
if i disable it via device manager the game load withtin 30 seconds!

and of course (as always Smile for me both latest solutions doesn't work...turned of my sb x-fi won't do the work, and trying to run the game directly from it's exe file either..even tried to do some things with "run as administrator" and setting different compability modes...and of course I've managed to run it and play it 2 times in whole 2 days, so it seems to start to work at random, and I don't know, maybe it will let me play itself tomorrow or for christmass maybe Razz First time I've managed to run it everything on LOW setting, and second time it was everything set on Ultra High and dx10, but this time there was some major pop-ups in game like, white hole in the landscape that stopped the game an loaded itself for another 10 minutes...anyone with some similiar problems and solution maybe ? SmileSmile

that did the job for me yesterday to!


i have also a audigy 2 zs.

I had the same problem when I tried the game (Audigy4 here). It's just incredible that there are still PC games which have problems with Audigy cards. Last one was Blacksite and it was never patched. How can a developer be so incompetent?? Confused Rolling Eyes

Same prob ...i try video driver for gefroce 180.42 beta and i try turn off audigy 2 that i have......but nothing dont work for me....someone can help?

i think i found way to solve the problem!
just copy the eax.dll from Stalker Clear sky into the Far Cry 2 folder and set sound accelleration to standard! with this it loads in 1 min!

dont forget to make backup of fc2 eax.dll!

Nope, it doesn't work for me...but at least I've managed to play this game a plenty of times, on XP now Smile Still something like for 10 runs there's freeze on 2 runs, but it's still a way better than on vista for me (it was like for 10 runs 9 hangs back then Razz) I think this problem is because of the engine of the game, it looks for me that these long load times are because sometimes pc just can't load all the game's stuff on time and it takes longer, but it finally starts OR it restarts pc (looks like something is overheating) Why is that ? I do not know...

think i found out how to get the game to load faster!
1.) copy eax.dll from Stalker CS to FC2 directory (make backup of old eax.dll and then overwrite )
2.) go to dxdiag and set sound accelleration to standart!
3.) no start fc2 from the exe!!!
4.) set resolution to 800x600 and oress alt+enter to go into windowed mode!
5.) now load your savegame or start new game!
6.) it should load within 1 minute!
7.) Now press again alt+enter to go fullscreen again and set resolution back to your settigns!

I solved the prob guys! for all that have this problem turn compatibility mode to windows 98/me farcry 2.exe and start the game from this file.
If you have some sound problem during game (sound stuttering like half life 2) go in sounds device manager in the control pannel and low the hardware accelleration bar to minimum (in the advanced option)

Now work great!

p.s. apply the latest patch to game
