|
 |
Red Steel 2 is an upcoming first-person shooter/ first-person combat video game in development by Ubisoft Paris for the Wii video game console. It is the sequel to Red Steel. The game is scheduled for release on March 23, 2010 in North America and on March 26, 2010 in Europe.
Contents
Plot
The story will be set in "a desert-bound, high-tech metropolis", with influences from both the Far East and the old Wild West. Ubisoft simply refers to the main character as The Swordsman; the lack of a name will become clear later in the game. This silent protagonist is a member of the "Kusagari-clan", who, prior to this game's events, were almost all killed by a clan called "The Jackals". Now, as one of the last survivors of the Kusagari-clan, The Swordsman sets off on a mission to avenge his fallen clan, and begins hunting down the leader of the Jackals, named Payne. Later on he finds a special sword deep in Caldera's mines and thus a deadly rival comes to town...
Gameplay
Red Steel 2 is played in a first-person perspective where players can alternate between shooting and sword fighting. Swordplay has been refined with the aid of Wii MotionPlus. Players will be able to fight up to six enemies at a time, and will be able to deflect their opponents' bullets with their sword. Gamers will also have the chance to fully calibrate Wii MotionPlus to their tastes. As the player progresses, new abilities and weapons will be available for the player to either purchase or earn. Gameplay is made special by combos, finishing moves and other kills.

It requires it. I just grabbed a Wii Motion Plus control today, have the disc ready to go. I'm hoping the release doesn't require any additional patching due to the WMP.

Played about 5-6 missions and i must say that : This is what I expected from Red
Steel part 1. While there is no surprises in the game, the controls are very polished
and works (this is not usual in wii games).
There is much help, movies and training in the beginning of the game, but you can
skip the movies, click pass the instruction/help and begin playing missions in about
5-10 minutes. The help in the beginning is really dumbed down.
While playing...
It´s fun to create combos (shoot knee, swing the sword and bash the enemy when
he is laying down as a finish). The Game lacks blood and dismemberment humans (on
plants, training dummies, barrels and so on can be destroyed in any way).
One more note on the controls : They are very good! It´s very fluid fighting 4-5 foes,
running around, duck, swing, shoot. This is thanks to good game design and a remote
that should have been shipped with the wii from the beginning. It´s in the fight this
game shines.
Resistance : Well, the Ai sucks, foes only have a chance to hit you if they are many
and you are sloppy. Bosses are a bit better but they are fairly easy to beat so far.
After 5-6 missions you start to learn how this works, i think there will be a problem
if the game doesn´t change it´s direction and gives some more variation.
It´s not masterpeace, there is not much new thinking. But it´s a solid fps game
with good controls. Worth dusting of your Wii if you are into games like this.
The graphics is toonish in a good way and very fitting and nice. All the fights i have
been in it holds a steady fps. The only time i had some stuttering is when i blow up
to much stuff at a time and that rarely happens. I like that you can destroy almost
everything, very nice graphics for Wii.
My score for this game : 6.5/10 . But i guess for some of you this will be a blast...

ubisoft would re-release it on ps3 "MOVE" with blood ?

Yeah , it does require the motion plus. Haven't really seen any justification for the requirement yet though.

Interesting got a black wii a while ago (Knew a bit about modding it beforehand since I helped a few friends with such things.) haven't had a chance to experiment much with the plus thing aside from the included resorts title however.
(Need to play the original first though, a lot of catching up to do in other titles aswell haha.)

YES. I wouldn't hesitate a second if there were detailed dismemberment (per pixel, so I can poke out an eye on my opponent) and blood effects ala Ninja Assasin, that would be great!
