hey, i need your help.

i am about to buy a dvd dl burner but dunno wich one to pick.. can u guys tell me the best burners besides the pioneer 111d to burn the xbox 360 rls's?

pioneer, nec, lg

practically any DL burner will do

i have atm old pioneer dvr-109 and never had bad burn so far, using mainly imgburn

yup any cheap ass burner will do , old LG burner here bought it back in 2004 and burns DL like a charm

I don't bother with booktype, I use an old NEC and Arita's (cheapest you can get here). I had no problems so far.

i want the best quality possible.. since i have some ridisc dvds with 360 games and they frooze like 4 times in 9 days.. recently played some games with verbatim dvd and didnt have a problem at all

I use Arita 2.4x (mediacode= Ritek) media burned with a BenQ 1650 works flawless.

like i said before every crappy DL burner works but it needs to do three things :
1. have editable book setting
2. burn on 2.4x
3. burn dvd+r media

btw it has any diference being sata or ide?

it is really hard to find something without lightscribe and securdisk

SATA has better/easier cable management but that's about it Smile

Afaik you don't need the booktype setting anymore. Only early firmware versions needed it.

in the specifications i saw this under the burn tab

DVD-ROM (Dual): 8X max. (CAV)

Anyone succesfully burning with higher speeds than 2.4x? Not that I mind it that much, since I burn DL's so rarely.

I use a Pioneer 115D with cheapo Aone discs burnt at x4 speed. Don't get no problems.

yes you can burn even of 12x but when your drive would degrade in its quality of reading it would have problems with reading that DVD , thats why you set the book type and the burning to the lowest speed possible to make this burned DVD readable on the most degraded drive

I am still using a asus dl burner, its old but still working..
Only strange i got was, if i burned a game in xp it didnt work, but in vista it works.
still dont know why
