all the boxes require codes/cards eurovox is probably the most noob friendly but starview works good too, for the most options i would go for a dreambox though
*edit with a dreambox you can have it connected to the internet and never have to enter any codes as it will self update.

I dunno how it works in the UK, but in Canada, the boxes are wired right to Rogers and there is no way to hack em. They constantly send and receive info from rogers.
And trust me, I have friends that do cable installations for rogers and are senior ppl (dont know the exact title) and they have never seen nor heard of a hacked digital/pvr box. Ive been trying to get one for like 3 years.
And even if you did get an illegal one, you wouldnt receive updates. Like every so often the box will reboot and stuff will be added to it. Like new features and shit.
Your better off paying for it. Unless its different in the UK and you can get illegal boxes that receive updates and stuff
But I know in Canada you cant (unless your some rogers executive and get your shit for free and everything is unlocked).
Because all the chans are controlled at the rogers place. Its not like you can go to a channel you havent bought, and press a button and buy it. You have to phone in and then they send a signal to your box to unlock the channel.

You can't hack rogers, but you can hack satellite.

yeah, satellite hacking is easy as pie. Carding is easy. But what sucks about it is you never know when the sat company will disable your card and you have to get it reloaded.
Ive been at ppl's houses watching fights on ppv and all of a sudden their shit goes dead because their card was disabled.
Unless you have one of those machines that reloades the card, its not worth it. Even if the cards arent disabled by the company, they only last like 3 months then you gotta pay another 20-40 bucks to get it reloaded.
When it comes to tv and internet, I dont fuck around. Id rather have everything legit. That way if there is a problem, I can get it fixed right away and it doesnt cost me anything.

It's possible to hack cable in the UK due to old Nargavision encryption, and the lack of talkback (Sending data back to cable) from modified boxes or custom boxes like starview etc.

Yeah, Its different in the UK. You get lots of boxes that Autoupdate. lol

Talkback can easily be defeated, heh... Actually its most likely due to the fact they don't use Nagravision and use something like NDS.

Ironically in the UK you can hack cable, but its near impossible to hack satellite unless you cardshare.

I'd rather fix it myself than deal with some clueless call centre telling me to "restart my modem box"

I've got satellite TV and a flashed reciever I watch all channels for free |
my cable isnt shit
i have like 300 channels (which is all the chans they offer) and I dont watch ppv. If i do, Im a specialized/prefered/whatever client and it costs me 1.99 to watch a movie. thats pocket change
But like i said, usually if I see a movie on ppv that i want to watch, i download it off the net

I work for a recruitment company and we supply Virgin Media with all their hardware and software testers for their Set top boxes. In the uk there are LOADS of different boxes, I know loads of people that hack them. it's quite common.
