What the hell have they done to the url bar in Firefox 3??!!! you goto type something and it goes through all your bookmarks and like guess matches words !!

Is there a way to turn it off in the firefox options so it acts like the old one or is the only way to install the Old Location Bar addon?

thanks

Can't imagine people being ticked-off by something like that but apparently you're not the only one.

Type about:config in the Location Bar and look for these Preferences..

a) Exclude All Results, or change the number of results

browser.urlbar.maxRichResults
This setting is only really useful if you either want to remove the autocomplete function entirely, or limit the list to a shorter length on your screen real estate, now that titles are a part of the result. Setting to 0 (zero) will just stop all autocomplete results.

Haven't tried it myself since it doesn't bother me (who types in web addresses in this age Razz) and since I am not sure if that is what you really want, I would suggest reading the whole article before messing around with the settings.

At first I was like this, but now I can't live without it. And the one on IE7 beta 2 is even better (believe it or not)...

will have a look into it thanks.

The thing I liked doing was say I wanted to goto hotukdeals, I used to just type hot and the site would appear on the top of the drop down and I would just click the down arrow and enter to go to the site. Now when I do that all my favourites etc with hot in pop up infront of the main site link Sad

Get the OldBar addon for Firefox 2.x like url bar functionality. I hated the FF 3 version of it too and OldBar works perfectly.
