Windows media player wont play new songs

So now then ever I download new songs I want to listen to they just wont play. But it works just fine in VLC or media player classic.

have u tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

When you say new songs, do you mean MP3 files? Perhaps something screwed the internal codecs Windows comes with (VLC uses its own)... You should try setting FFDSHOW to decode MP3 files and see if then you could open the songs in WMP.

I mean new as they have not been on my computer before all the other songs play perfect. And were are those FFDSHOW settings?

FFDSHOW is a set of codecs for windows (FFDSHOW Tryouts is the best). But if you manage to play the old songs, then it's not that.

if those songs have ID3 with info about the Band , artist and song name and your WMP is turned to update the MP3/WMV/other songs from the internet database then you get the DRM effect , like the new Black Win XP screen or no sound at all

Get VLC or my favorite Zoom Player
