Our current favorite is Broforce. What else is good?

We also tried: Streets of Rogue and Death Road to Canada, neither really to our liking, not "arcadey" enough probably. I think Broforce really found a sweet spot between modern and arcade-like fun, it has a nice flow to it.

There's of course classics like Metal Slug and other MAME titles, they're fun for 15 mins or so, looking for something that'll keep our interest a little longer.

Are you looking for a specific genre? Who is we?
It takes two is the best local coop game if you are a couple.

Thanks! I'll take a look at these.

We're not that into beat em ups. Genre i would say is just something similar to Broforce; arcadey but also quite deep in terms of mechanics. I just love how new stuff is introduced in that game.

We play on my arcade machine PC, so it kind of helps if the game plays great with arcade joysticks.

 Spoiler:

(can't remember if i showed the final version in the arcade thread, i don't think i did..)

Downloading ExoDOS too (https://www.retro-exo.com/exodos.html) it's like 700GB of almost all DOS games. Maybe there can be some cool oldies in there Wink

Grip - a Rollcage clone playable in splitscreen
Trackmania - has a 1v1 splitscreen mode, Turbo has a better one though, I think
Any Smashbros-like - Either Smash Bros on emulators (Smash Bros Remix for N64 is awesome, adds a lot of characters and stages !), Brawlhalla,..
DBFighterZ, MK, SF games are always fun even if you don't really know how to play them
LEGO games
Goldeneye 007 has a remake emulated on the Switch coming out.. today actually Laughing Might need a couple days before it pops up.

.. and that's about it other than trying to dig up old games you can emulate Crying or Very sad
Nucleus coop also allows you to play a bunch of games in splitscreen provided they have online coop to begin with.

I second Mikey's suggestion, the new TMNT game is fun and looks/feels great - but yeah, a lot like Metal Slug games in that regard.

Good call, it's a good one ! Smile

L4D and L4D2 are easily playable in splitscreen and they're great for that. Not sure it'll support more than 2 players at once though.

Extensive guide about it : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=548307662#:~:text=to%20start%20playing%20simply%20click,by%20clicking%20on%20SS%20mode

A way out/It takes two are both great but they're not games you're going to play for quick fun sessions with friends.
But they're must-plays for a long session with your companion/a good friend Smile

We were here forever.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1341290/We_Were_Here_Forever/

Its the latest entry in a series but we just played that one. If you can overcome the initial clunkyness and serviceable gfx its a really good two player coop puzzle game. Puzzles are sometimes hard but there is alot of variety.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
