YAY. I love Donnie Darko. One of my favorite movies. Been waiting for the director's cut to hit the net. DVD isn't coming here for a while.

I have region2 retail of the directors cut and they added stuff in the movie. It runs about 135 minutes now and they changed some music and stuff too. Very cool.

Probably not. In the commentary for that deleted scene the director himself said he didn't like it but the studio made him shoot it just in case.

HEY Esel_Gesi

Would it kill you to put a ***SPOILER WARNING***
before you say things like that?

If you're COOL Cool you'll edit that post, some
folks here HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET

That said, I saw director's cut today and I thought it was PERFECT,
my only complaint is that it "Spoon Feeds" some of the major mysteries for you, that the original let you figure out for yourself.

However, the extra character moments make it all worth while.

This is one of the few movies where I'd like to own both the original
cut and the director's cut, each one has its merits.

To the guy that asked what was new, many of the 'deleted scenes' from the special ed. have been edited into this cut, plus some new 'never before seen' scenes, plus updated special effects, the director talks all about it here:

P.S. REGION 1 DVD in 2005...... yikes! Mad

the directors cut is alot more freakier than the original... it's more slow paced n such... and more thought provoking and it allows you get a better understanding about the characters which also allows you fell for them when things happen.... like first time i watched the original the ending part it made no sense it pissed me off... the acting sucked on that part it was like WTF is that it? now it's more like wow... Razz

nono the first time you watched you weren't drunk and the second time you had already drunk a whole bottle of vodka and you were staring at your hands: wow great movie

No seriously though. Just saw Donnie Darko by vite and it was great. It sucked me right in the movie (you know that feeling when you loose sense of reality while watching a movie --> those are the good ones)

Just got done watching it. Overall I really liked it. Added a lot of character development and explained the movie a bit more (which could be bad or good depending on the way you look at it). The one thing though that I didn't like was that it like ruined one of my favorite scenes. The part where everything is like rewinding back. They have fireworks in front of it.

"Esel-Gesi"

THANKS BUB! Very Happy

"HAHE"

Damn you're right it's been a while since i saw original cut, but
that sequence did get worse with the fireworks thing

Overall though i think these are minor nitpicks and the movie
is better as a whole.
