... from the director of such classics as Stewart Little, Stewart Little 2, and The Haunted Mansion.

Shame that they decided to make a children's movie together.

Report: Jackie Chan says new movie with Jet Li 'not great'
The Associated Press
Published: September 18, 2007

HONG KONG: Jackie Chan says the new Hollywood action movie he shot with Jet Li "isn't great," a news report said Tuesday, while Li said in his blog that fans should not have overly high expectations for the film.

"The Forbidden Kingdom," which finished shooting in China last month, has been eagerly anticipated because it marks the first on-screen collaboration between Chan and Li — kung fu cinema's two biggest stars.

But the two actors have been playing down the film's potential appeal to Chinese viewers, saying it is targeted at a U.S. audience.

A news report carried on the Web site of China's state-run Xinhua News Agency quoted Chan as saying, "The movie I just shot with Jet Li, 'The Forbidden Kingdom,' actually isn't that great."

"'The Forbidden Kingdom' is a movie made for Americans," the report quoted Chan as saying. "Chinese viewers may not like it. If I say it's a good movie now, then many people will be filled with overly high expectations and be disappointed when they see the movie."

Separately, Li made similar remarks, seen on Li's Web site on Tuesday.

"I hope everyone uses an open mind to watch 'The Forbidden Kingdom' and not invest too much expectation into my fight scenes with Jackie Chan," he said.

Both Li and Chan are wasted in Hollywood, especially Chan. There's such a difference from his Hong Kong movies and the kiddies crap he makes in the US...

the whole 'obsessed kung fu geek' thing is what instantly made me pass on the film. sounds silly.

and no, jet li & jackie chan in the same film isnt going to make me see it even though i love chinese and martial arts films... i saw a movie with donnie yen (easily better than chan or li) and jackie chan fight it out in one movie and that one fight didnt help make that shitty film any more watchable...

Its quite sad really what Jackie has become. I love his Chinese movies (not the early crap) but like very late 70s and early 80s and most of the 90s. Great choreography, funny, and entertaining. Movies like police story, legend of drunken master, and armor of god 1 and 2 just to name a few. But his American movies are total crap, shit like rush hour, tuxedo, and medallion. The only movie that i can barely watch is Shanghai knights. It's just night and day when it comes to his Chinese and American movies. American movies feel like they are made for 5 year olds, while his Chinese movies are not exactly oscar worthy, and most of the time silly, they still feel like they are for every age. Sad truly sad, i still love his Chinese movies, even police story 4, where he tried to be serious.

jackie chan's english is getting pretty impressive hes got his comedic timing down and his sentences are no longer stuttered and have pauses in the wrong places, well not much anyway! nice one jackie, also i had to do a double take to realise jet li was the monkey, hes really cheeky in this. nice.

I expect alot of fight scenes, preferably between Li and Chan. Is that the case? I was thinking about seeing this one in the cinema.

What did you seriously expect? When was the last time you saw a high-profile, american produced, martial arts movie with a dark overtone hit the theaters. AND with an asian main character?

While I certainly agree with Krest, this one wasn't that bad actually (when you compare to the other silly things Chan has done for US audiences).
