Silent hill series is by far the most disturbing and horrific game I've played since Alone in The dark 1 in the 90's

The only series of games to ever creep me out more than SH .. was, and always will be, "Project Zero"

That game fucked with my head, big time.

Good news, I love SH series. Speaking of Project Zero aka Fatal Frame, now that I have a PS2 I'll definitely play them.

i didn't play any of the silent hill games, cause i did like more the Resident Evil Series (1-3).

But a few months ago i played "Origins" on PSP which i'd lend from a friend. I played it and it was really good. Not best, but a good japanese psycho game.

Now i grabbed these Releases and i must say that they're too old for me. The Silent Hill Games wrote history, but the animations & sounds are laughable for todays Claims.

 Spoiler:

But the new Silent Hill Game won't be like the other Games, it'll be a flop. First thing: It isn't developed by Konami but by an any unknown american studio.

2nd thing that you can adjust the camera how you like it. There aren't the classic camera perspectives from the old games.

That's like Resident Evil 4 was, it had a new view and i believe that the new Silent Hill will be a copy of Alone In The Dark.

So i don't expect too much from the new title, but i hope the best.

the horror level in all 4 games wouldn't scare an autistic child. you people must all be nuns or something, I couldn't possible imagine anyone being even remotely worried by Japanese horror.

siren (similer to silent hill) was somewhat ok though

Burn them all Adolf

@YSP

Resident Evil 4 may have changed its camera style, but it's also widely recognized as being the best of the series - next to Resi2.

Change isn't always a bad thing.

It hasn't been confirmed at all. In fact Capcom are still "considering it"

Right now it's X360 and PS3 only.

Yeah I'd like a source that the game is being released on the 22nd of September for the pc. As far as I know the release date is set for September for the ps3 and the xbox versions. None of the previous releases saw a simultaneous release and no one ever stated that this one will be released simultaneously for all the platforms. No doubt I'll be more than happy to see a release of silent hill next month but I highly fucking doubt it'll happen. :'(

Different places state different things, some say it will be simultaneous release but in November... Some say it'll be the 30th of September only for xbox and ps3. I'd like an official Konami statement Smile

Konami has today confirmed that Silent Hill: Homecoming is to be released for PC in addition to the previously announced PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. The PC edition will ship simultaneously with the home console versions in November 2008.

The sixth instalment in the landmark horror series, Silent Hill: Homecoming introduces Alex Shepherd, as the latest hero to become trapped within the mist-shrouded town. Alex has returned to his hometown of Shepherd's Glen to investigate the sudden disappearance of his younger brother Joshua. Alex must face the darkest of horrors in order to find his brother.

The PC version will be identical in all respects to the home console versions.

I've been really concerned about this game ever since they announced that it was not being developed by Team Silent, but by the American studio The Collective (now Double Helix Games). I don't have any problem with The Collective, but I just don't think that an American studio is really suited to the very specific sort of horror that Silent Hill is about. Team Silent really had it nailed, so I find it concerning that this new developer is going to have to try and achieve what Team Silent did, from scratch.

Sure, they're dated technologically, but in terms of art direction, the games are still outstanding (especially SH3), in my opinion:
1, 2, 3

I do agree that the fact that it's not developed by Team Silent strikes me as a bad thing, but I would argue that it's not actually an "unknown" studio developing it. The developer, Double Helix, was created from the merger of The Collective (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb, Star Wars Episode III, Mark Ecko's Getting Up) and Shiny Entertainment (MDK, Earthworm Jim, Sacrifice, Messiah, The Matrix games). So, The Collective wasn't really famous, but Shiny definitely was.

Wouldn't that mean that all owners have the capability to be online thus allowing the developers or perhaps publisher to add a protection scheme utilizing this such as that SecuROM online protection?
(As steam allows a multitude of protections.)

Well I was considering on buying the game if it was good. But no box and forced to use steam = no sale. I'll settle for Valve's games on steam but thats it.

yeah Valve/source games & other multiplayer games (cod4,U3 etc) are the only ones worth buying on steam not single player ones well except for HL2 but that's Valve as I said

they're gonna ship it into retail disc when they notice how fucked up the sales are , I rather have the Single Player game I paid for in physical form in my shelf rather than having to download it everytime something goes wrong , Downloading isn't installing and with the shitty steam speeds that's over the line

no go untll a scene release
