You probably got a bad release, I'd recommend the "Resident Evil 4+ [PCDVD][MULTI5][PATCH 1.10]" version if you use torrents as it has the latest patch together with the mouse support hack and the movie and texture update. Smile

There's also the "Resident Evil 4 PC texture patch 2.0 by Albert Marin Garau" update that'll further improve texture quality.

Lastly there's a shader mod here that supports RE4, improves the visuals a bit but the game will also be much darker.

Hey, as long as there is quality out there among the one smiley posts, it's all good. But I haven't done that in ages (post one smiley posts). The ones here were actually responses to mr. smilies himself.

To stay on topic I remember "testing out" hehe a version by "NETSHOW" it was also biohazard 4 and not resident evil 4. But I don't believe there's a difference.

Me? Heh, I only knew about those because I downloaded them myself from a rather popular site here in Sweden, that shader modification was discovered when I checked some Morrowind mods as someone managed to get some effects to work with it.
(It actually works with most DX9 titles but might have issues with more advanced games.)

Other than that it's not difficult to figure out he got a bad download as it contained a virus or trojan so most likely he used a P2P program on a open network.
(Torrents are OK if you know what you download but IRC, UsetNet and FTP is better and safer but not many have access and in the case of UseNet it requires monthly fees unless you're ISP is offering it with access to those specific channels.)

Unless the guy who posted the thread comes back this could probably be locked as the questions were answered and now the discussion here is currently going on about something else.

Strange then, didn't know there were such uploads on usenet but it doesn't really surprise me that someone took time to upload a "fake" release.
(Not exactly fake but certainly not proper if it was extracted first and then had a trojan added.)

Come to think of something if it's the exe file that's affected remove it and replace it with a cracked copy from GameCopyWorld or GameBurnWorld, should take care of the problem. Smile
(Also add the 1.10 patch if you can and I'd still recommend the movie and texture patches, they aren't exactly P2P releases but are primarily hosted and distributed via torrents due to their size but there are HTTP mirrors.)
