Main menu choose new game, PC restarts.. what can this be?

Windows XP PRO SP2 all updates including DX9c updates
ATI RADEON 9800 PRO 128MB 8.4 catalyst drivers
Athlon 3000XP @ 2Ghz
1.5GB RAM
200GB 7200rpm 16MB cache
SB LIVE 5.1

Change your settings so that windows will not automatically restart on errors. This will at least give you an idea into what it happening..

fixed the issue.. it was the ATI catalyst drivers I was using, 8.4 .. uninstalled them installed older version 7.8 worked fine!!! i had the same issue with Chaos Theory, when I tried to run it a few weeks ago.. which was strange cause I run pretty much any game I want (older ones). Now I can try the Chaos Theory again!
