Hey!
Posted this on the old forum, but not much of replys... Anyway, try again cant hurt
I was hoping someone could help me out getting releasenames, .nfo and .diz files for 0day apps for me! I know this is hard work normaly, so, I have made a kewl script in php that does all the job for ya! You just go to the "root", run the script and voilá, everything is nicely put in 1 zip file localy! The script can even extract the .nfos and/or .diz from zips if neccessary! Hell, it can even send ME the zipfile created through sockets (but this can be skipped, if the script is not "trusted"). But then again, anyone who can read php is gonna understand what the script does!
There exist this .ini file where one puts info about the ftp from where to get the stuff, and thats basicly all there is to it! (And no, info is NOT send to anyone (check the code! ))
Pay attention to the req. here. NO .zip files or anything like that. Just stuff like nforce gets! So, its nothing illegal really..
Why? Well, its for my db. I got quite complete db from 2002-1208 -> now, and the more sources the more complete db
Why nfos? Well, dunno why noone has done it yet, but with the .nfo I can also search IN the nfos!! (maybe more usefull with just small apps)
And as I said, the db is rather complete from 2002-1208, so, if u can help me with stuff older than 2002-1208, that is also kewl!
So, hope Im not braking any rules here and that I can get some help! Would be really neat! Pm me or something if you can help...
Ofcource, those that help me out gets access to the db!
Ace

I don't understnad. You are expecting someone to install a program into their "root" folder, which does something with .nfos and you collecting them, especially on a site like this? Wow =p

Err, lol... Not really. Its a simple php script that you can put anywhere you want. And, if u understand php, you can see that it doesnt fuck up your hd or anything else for that matter. And it collects .nfo and .dizs from a ftp. (Currently working on a local version)

Ace I don't see this getting too much support, Its a good idea in a way...
but trust is a major issue here, if ppl don't know u ! They wont give this a second look (including me)
Never argue with an idiot...he will drag you down to his level, and then beat you with his experience...

Well, if you catalog your CD's using Deductus, you can make a search in the .nfo.
You can tell the program only to catalog the necessary files(.nfo, .diz, or .txt or whatever) and you can limit the size of the .nfo to be 2000 words or so, and also deductus cut out the ascii pictures that are not nessesarly in the .nfo.
also they made a nice program: Deductus Search Server
which is you can open at your own computer a http webserver and ppl can search at your DB.
Deductus WebSite:

Ah, nice. However, I got this in a mySQL database, and.. well, Im not sure but the textindexing there, but I guess it doesnt add characters above like character code 126... And below like 32 and thus dont add those ascii gfx either...
But yea, I use something like Disk Explorer Professional 3 aswell to index hd. Damn much faster search than a realtime one... And data doesnt move that often anyway so...
Gonna try that Deductus anyway... Seems like something nice!
