I know most people here hate my SUV but get over it and read my post. Smile

I went to the dog park today to walk my dog and when I finished I found a note on my windshield. Some women had dinged me. Backed into my drivers side fender flare, back end. I was beside a no parking slot and the end of the lot. The lot is pretty big too, with lots of room. Her dogs (3) were in the way when she was backing out she said.

At least she left her name and phone number. Most people I don't think would have. There are so many hit and run shere where the people just drive off. Sometimes people are really hurt and still the driver just fucks off.

She was honest on the phone when I called the number, and got the info. Even the ICBC phone operator was surprised that someone left a note "so I guess there are still some honest people in the world" she said. I kinda think if this happened in a different kind of parking lot within the city this would of been a different story. Dog park people are usually pretty good to each other.

I have never had to file a claim before so I was kinda sick when I drove home. It is a money thing with me too. I stopped in to a local street market for interest. Listened to music for 10 mins or so and left.

It isn't big but still it makes my car look like shit.

1 ) not having a dog ftw , you don't need to take him for a walk everyday and everytime he gets a hard on

2 ) be thankful it was a scratch , since it's a women that hit you it's a miracle she didn't wreck the shit out of your car since they can't drive for shit
it it wasn't an SUV you'd be dead or in a coma by now

3 ) you can get it repaired for a cheap price

4 ) only you can notice that scratch and only you care about it and only you think it makes it look like shit , other people passing by don't

5 ) don't take me seriously

Its only on one part. Its damn expensive to respray, but her insurance company could take care of it. Anyway, we got similar damage on one of our company cars, Green Toyota yaris. It was our own fault tho.. so we just washed it real good. Its easy to get that white stuff away. Seems like its only the top of the paint that is damaged. Id just demand some money from her and let it go. Don't think its so deep there will be any rust there either. A dads friend did the same.. had a damage like that on his Accord for years. Still no rust Very Happy

It is the fender flare so it won't rust. Her insurance will cover it and she was honest so it goes on her insurance. Turns out if I was parked and it was a hit and run then it would of been covered as well. I just lose my car when it is being fixed and have some apt.'s now to fix it.

I fender flare is about 300 I think.

It is not a scratch, more of a crunch and looks like shit. Also, I should be able to walk my dog or do whatever I want legally in my car. If I am parked in legal spot why should I pay if someone hits me when I am parked?

YES I am taking you seriously but not that much. Very Happy

Anyone remember my thread where my car mirror got knocked off and no one left a note or anything?

Consider yourself lucky, people are douchebags.

Yes I was lucky the woman left her number. She was really nice about it too and I thanked her for being honest. Dog park people I think are usually good people.

I know it looks like a scratch but it isn't. It is torn right through to the other side. You can't paint it or anything. I wish it was bird shit

just put some tape on it

most people just tape everything that has fallen off

how many people just tape the back windshield if they don;t have one is beyond retarded

it aint that bad
a chop shop like mechanic would fix it in less than 2 hrs , it would take more for the paint to dry than actually fixing that shit

use some filler after you smoother everything out , chip some old paint off and take it to a paint shop so you can buy the exact paint as on the car , i see that the upper crack has gone inside the wheel arc , that can be fixed or you can simply put filler on it , but don't think it'll hold.

4runner ftw , good car same platform as the undistructable hilux from top gear as if i'm not mistaking

The flare has to be replaced so a new one. If I just get one it might be a slightly different color because it is new. Its a Toyota Sequoia. It will be something like this: http://www.partstrain.com/ShopByDepartment/Fender_Flare/TOYOTA/SEQUOIA

I don't see any for my year tho.

Its nice that they left a note. I have had my Porsche dinged 3 fucking times now. I just got the last 2 dents fixed, and another asshole hit a run me yesterday. And heres the real shitty part. It was my first day driving since i got it back from the shop to fix the last hit and run.

People need to man the fuck up, and take responsibility for there actions.

Ok, rant done.

You own a Sequoia Pistol, those things are freaking huge. Smile but bad ass none the less.

@Big
It is a 95 not a new a newer one so it is smaller. It is normal suv size. The back is great for the dog and the back goes down for things like plywood.

I have an appt today at the dealership for them to take pictures so ICBC can approve. Turns out I am lucky and I don't have to pay the deductible because it was parked and because she claimed responsibility.

I bought it last year for about $11,000. Over 200,000 km.

Sad The engine and under top was so clean you could eat off of it. I don't think it was ever taken off road. I put more mud under that hood in its life in one day on a well kept logging road then it has seen in its lifetime. I did had to replace the trannie. That was about $2,500. I think for a rebuild.

The dealship I can't fault. If I had known more about car mechanics I would of KNOWN the TRANNIE needed to be replaced. It was on the check list of things I had to sign off. Dirty trans fluid. is bad.

I have lots of rock chips too. It is a piss off. But the car gets used so I can't bitch about it. I would love some new skins. Off road and chunky tires. No money for that tho. Those tire are new too. I bought it like that.

There might be a law passed about raised trucks soon making them illegal on city streets, everywhere actually in canada anyway. Look it up youself and don't take my word. Body vs susp lift. It is prov. so far. (me thinks)

It is surprising that the person was that honest, most would not be, there is a remarkable good feeling about this story, regardless of the inconvenience.
