Im thinking about buying a 8800gt but i only have a 350w psu.
I have p4 3.06, one 7200 rpm hdd, 2 dl burners and a old soundcard.
Do u guys think the 350 will be enough or do i need to get a new psu?
thanks

No way could a 350W hold a power hungry P4 and an 8800GT and hard disks, burners, etc. But 8800GT with a P4? What's the point. An 8600GT will give you the same performance.

The power supply is the last thing you ever want to be cheap on. Trust me when I say you'll regret using or buying something not up to running your hardware. Also don't just judge a power supply by watts alone.

GTX? Laughing What's the point? GT is already beating it on some tests.

Try looking for a C2D + 4850.

And 400W no-name PSU is HIGHLY NOT recommended.

You're on about a VGA booster PSU right? The one that goes in the drive bay?
Waste of money, just get a good make 500 Watt PSU, then you'll be future proof (apart from your P4 lol)

And the thing looks good under my dvd drives.

I'd agree with you there, bang for buck isn't the best in the world, but say you just got a new video card, realize your pSU isnt powerful enough and you want to use it but dont have the cash for a new GOOD, its a good alternative.

Kind of a niche product.
