Well u can use PS2 controller on PS1, but as far I remember you can't use ps1 on ps2 ...

It depends on the game, it has something to do with the analog sensitivity i think.
Like burnout takedown does not work and Def Jam fight for Ny and the fight night games wont work probably many more of the later games.

It does work, at least the analog PS1 pad does. But you don't have the button sensitivity that some games require.
