So i decided to finally watch the entire X-files after all these years. I think they showed every single episode in Sweden right from the start in 1993. But i was only 8 back then, and throughout the 90's i missed most of it. I saw a few episodes here and there and then all the kids would talk about how scary it was the next day at school. Man those were the fucking days. So anyway, is it worth watching the whole thing? I've watched the first 5 episodes, and they're not nearly as good as the ones i remember from the mid 90's.

Is it just the first season that's a bit lame? Does it pick up after a while? Because as i remember it, this show was fucking bad ass, but the episodes i've seen so far have been pretty tame. Or do i just remember it as being better than it was because i was a kid and everything with aliens and horror and stuff is cool by default when you're a kid?

Gigabyte S-Series GA-G33-DS3R, Intel C2D Quad Q6600 OC @ 3.2Ghz, 4gb Kingston PC8500 1066Mhz DDR2, Geforce 7800GTX (will get a 9800GTX when they are released), 2 x 250Gb HD's and a case with built in paper and lotion dispenser.

I think it's pretty much cause of the "kids like aliens" thing..

I remember the show rocked, but I don't really remember anything that happened in them etc Razz

Grabbed every episode in a monster 70gb package a while ago, halfway through season 1 right now - I was also a big fan of the show growing up, but like you I missed quite a bit. So far I don't regret getting back into it, some episodes are significantly better than others of course but overall I enjoy it far more than most modern shows.

This may sound like old man talk but for me the X-Files sort of began their downward spiral from season 6 when they moved the show from Vancouver to LA because Duchovny kept bitching about the airtravel. Somehow the show seemed less dark (for lack of a better word), also skip the last season entirely and just watch the last episode, that's what i did Smile

I loved the X-Files though I never did understand how Mulder was deathly afraid of fire in one episode and in others he just doesn't give a damn.

necro!!! The show is fucking awesome and im almost half way through season 6. I really like the occasional weird/funny episodes, but they wouldnt probably be as effective if the whole show was like that. The evolution of Mulder's and Scully's relationship is also very fun to watch. Gonna feel empty inside once Im done with it :'(. Luckily ive got californication gonig for me to get my duchovny fix and still havent seen twin peaks yet Mr. Green

I'm rewatching the show (ep 12 of S1 now), something striked me as odd. You know how in every modern movie or show the FBI just comes in and takes everything over? Well in X-files no one seems to give a shit the FBI has arrived. There were a lot of lol moments with Mulder Laughing "we're agents Muldr and Scully of the FBI", "yeah so? Fuck off". That's usually how it goes.
The show seems also a lot more formulaic then I remember. I remember the overall plotline being much more present.

Really? Laughing I was a fan of the X-Files in the good sense, but I remember clearly being very annoyed with the shitload of generic eps where the main plot wasn't touched at all and having to go through all of them just to get to the one I was really interested in watching and expecing to see the CSM again (one of my fav. characters).

After that I started to avoid that kind of shows (super interesting main plot but with 80% of the eps being fillers) like the plague.

If you get the entire series, just find the most up to date list of plot-related episodes and just watch those. Usually 6-7 in the early seasons, and more later.

Also, in the early seasons, the filler episodes were interesting. Later it became quite a shit series tbh, but early on it is watchable. So I'd say watch 2-3 seasons fully, then pick and choose.

The.X-Files.Complete.DVDRip.DD2.0.x264-MMI is the best release. It is out there.

I guess with "American network" you're referring to the national public ones (ABC/CBS/NBC/FoX?). Most quality cable shows (HBO/Showtime/AMC) I watch don't have that formulaic structure Wink

I just went to tv.com and looked at the ep ratings. If an ep got a score below 8 I watch the first ten minutes and skip it if it doesn't catch my attention.

It's a strange show, but easily one of the best mystery shows ever made.

Never even heard of it, I'll watch it. Thanks.

edit: seems like it was only one season. Did it end properly?
