after having tried several rss readers, both applications and web based one, i have found that only google reader is able to give me all of the posts on a given site when i log in every day, approximately at the same hour.
all of the others, both applications and web based service, after a certain amount of time give me only the last X messages posted on a given site.
i'm only experimenting with rss from a couple of days (so forgive me my ignorance) and i think to have understood that the "feeds" are created by the site and updated regularly with fresh ones, overwriting the same file so that readers can access the file and send the updated news to me.
so, for example, there is this site i visit frequently that seems to have a seed of 5 messages, if i check after one day the news and say it has posted 50 news (looking at the site itself) i am only able to see the last 5 ones !
so this could be logical from one side, but why google reader then allow me to dig older and older posts and never lose one if i made the same test with it ?
can someone kindly shed a bit of light on my doubts ?
