So I've started buying movies on HD, so start throwing out the awesome titles that are worth it.

If it's not on blu ray I don't mind getting the HD-DVD, my player plays both

Mostly into sci-fi and action

What I have already:

American Psycho
Stargate
Goodfella's
Blade Runner (bought the HD-DVD of the suitcase)
Just bought V for Vendetta
Buying Aeon Flux
Shoot em up
Troy
300
The Prestige
V for Vendetta

didn't know pitch black on was on blu-ray! awsome! I couldn't really stomache riddick very well, all this super power crap was kind of over the top. T2 is already on my list Wink I can't stand the 3rd one, that john connor looked like such a bag of douche.

Let me bombard you with some:

Serenity is coming to Bluray, hopefully this year. So this is a must buy.

The Godfather - The Coppola Restoration - a very sweet deal, if you ask me.

Planet Earth Bluray (UK Edition) - If you haven't seen Planet Earth, you haven't truly experienced HD.

Fifth Element is amazing on Bluray.

TDK, when it comes out.

Total Recall - a classic.

Kingdom of Heaven DC is my all-time favorite film. The Bluray version is amazing.

And of course, Pirates XXX on Bluray is epic! Laughing

You know what's a shame? Equilibrium STILL isn't on blu-ray, the only one I know of is an HD-DVD from Japan called "Rebellion"

Same with the TMNT movies, 1 and 2 would be awesome, screw the 3rd

I have a HD rip of it (retail movie just ain't worth it to me), but that is seriously one of his weaker movies. Yes, his visual signature is all over it, and visually it's sweet. But goddamn, the script sucks balls, and they never should have cast Orlando Bloom and Eva Green. Rolling Eyes

I agree that Goleneye was great, but all Bonds after it (especially Die Another Day) got worse in eath iteration. Casino Royale was not any different. It was directed well IMO but the script was just too messed up:
1. Bond is an albino ?
2. Felix Leitner is black ??
3. We're back in the past before Bond got his license to kill, but the world surrounding him is stil present day ???
4. Judi Dench was the first female M in Goldeneye (remember the dialog between Bond and Janus where Janus was surprised that the new M is a woman) but now we're in some pseudo-past (even before Dr. No) and there is a female M. Did the writers even watch any old Bond movie ??!??

@Laurentiu499: You can't blame Pierce because the writers fucked up the scripts. He was a great Bond actor

IMO Brosnan sucked big fucking dick - fucking thin ass pretty boy which doesn't even look like an agent. He's just too lame looking and fucking gay.
Craig is definitely better - the best Bond would be a mix of Connery's looks and Craig's muscle. Something like that.

+1 about black Leiter and M being a woman...WTF?!

Um...did u at least see T1 and T2 on BluRay? They look awesome, razor sharp. I happen to have Terminator.2.Judgement.Day.Directors.Cut.1991.1080p.HDDVD.DTS.x2 and The.Terminator.1984.1080p.BluRay.x264-hV. Also i do have T1 and T2 DC on DVD and they are shit compared to the BR/HD.
So...yeah, u don't know what u say. No offense.

I never said anything was wrong with T2 Wink Actually this was the first high definition transfer I've ever watched -- the HD WMV came as an extra on the extreme edition SD DVD
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/musicandvideo/hdvideo/t2dvd.aspx

I watched the sample for The.Terminator.1984.1080p.BluRay.x264-hV and after seeing scratches/heavy grain I never bothered to download. Also it came from the same master as the special edition SD DVD, which doesn't look all that bad considering this is a 25 year old low budget movie.

found someone else who shares my opinion...

Quote:
The problem is that the Blu-ray hardly looks like High Definition at all. In fact, in the majority of scenes it's barely distinguishable from the 2001 DVD edition of the movie. In direct comparison, there's a modest improvement in detail and clarity, especially in the brightest daylight scenes, but overall it still looks like a better-than-average DVD. Part of this may be due to the movie's photographic style, but the video also has a filtered appearance common to the other Sony Blu-ray launch titles. Using MPEG2 compression on a single-layer disc burdened by space-hogging PCM audio takes an obvious toll. Compression problems such as noise and frozen grain patterns are visible in some of the most difficult scenes like those hazy shots of the L.A. streets at night. For The Terminator this is certainly a nice transfer that looks as good as the movie ever has, but it's not much of an upgrade over the DVD at all.

http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/22644/terminator-the/

So really the question is whether or not you already own the last SD DVD version of this movie and want to spend more money on the BluRay. Spykez is not asking about what HDrips to download Wink
