|
 |
Typically Virgin are going back on thier 'no download limits' promise..Now I d/l shitloads so am expecting one of these through the post soon
http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2217872/virgin-media-scapegoats
Its taking the bloody piss to be honest, the cost for Virgins BB is astronomical. Unfortunately thier is nothing else to go for atm
Anyway just wondered if anyone has had one of these letters? or if you do this week post here plz.. with your average daily d/l amount in gigs
They already cap us at 2 meg from 4pm to 12am during which time i find it practiacally impossible to display many web pages, so does this mean even longer capped periods?
Cheers

Have you even had the letter?
I can't say I've heard anything as of yet. What's the alternative? Certainly not BT that's for sure. A friend of mine can't download between 4 and 12 either. Because he's limited to 60k a second which is useless to anyone. I don't know which pages you visit, but I know if I'm capped at those times I'm still getting 586k a second. That's after the 3gb limit between those times. I mean how much can people download. I'd say I was a pretty heavy downloader. Yet at times I struggle to find anything worthwhile. So I don't know how anyone can download crap they don't even want. Maybe it's just for bragging rights, I don't know.

Yes you are right in one respect, however we pay an extortionate amount to enable us to have unlimited downloads. Yes i probably do just d/l crap to justify paying over the top for the service (if im paying i might aswell use it)
@Jenni I remember you saying b4 you dont have problems during the cap, I can only assume you are one of the lucky ones as mine is practically unusable. As to the 3gb limit thats a load of bulls**t I have been away for a couple of days, obviously d/l absolutely nothing or just been at home with nowt to grab and the cap is ALWAYS in place despite how much i do or do not d/l.
Time to change, but as you say what to?? theres nothing else out there. |
Nope it's not BS. Look at the guy that said he hit the cap six times. So he's getting capped at every multiple of three. Work it out.
BTW if you're constantly downloading even crap to justify the fee's then maybe they're checking on your twice as much. Personally I don't think £37 per month for a 20Mb line with virtually no limits isn't bad. Actually I think it's very good. Sure we don't have cheap net like other places. But I don't know if you were ever on 56k? But when I was on it I regularly received bills of £400 per month at least. So I'm very happy with the service Telewest offers. Very Happy indeed.

Perhaps I am being checked up on, but I can say with no doubt that I am capped every single day at about 4pm till about 12am.. despite if i download 1 meg or 10 gig. It makes no difference the cap is always there and btw all weekend aswell I never ever hit max speed at the weekends (unless its sort of 1 am to about 6am) any times outside that at the weekend is capped. Im glad you are happy with the service but I think its a bloody rip off. I would def swap if there was a decent alternative.

You could be part of a really bad / oversubscribed ubr :/
The only reason I get any decent service is I force configs and Exploit the system to reset my cap
Before I did this I couldn't really download at all during the evening

i never bothered at the time i wish i did now, ive been thinking of just dropping down to 10mbit i probably only download a few gb a week these days anyway

thankfully my ISP doesn't have their shit together enough to even try monitoring BW usage (they barely have customer support). they are actually a 3rd party ISP that just uses the equipment of a major provider Rogers, who have a fair usage policy themselves |
Hahaha what do you use?! I need faster internets!

I just checked my bandwidth for the month. Turns out it is 3 month behind so at least I know what to say if I get a phone call if I am over. Like Nouse my IP is short staffed in the monitoring dept so I don't expect to get one. I am 130 GB/month.
