Received a Garmin Nuvi 660 from Ebay but it is locked with a pin. I have contacted the Seller but have had no luck getting a pin from them so my next step is reporting to Ebay, PayPal and if that doesnt work the Police (if they dont have the pin then surely its stolen). Im just wondering, is there a way to crack the pin? I have been told to try a manual Brute force method but this will take ages (currently at 0030 and that alone has took 10 mins), is there not an automated brute force method I could use or any other way??

I tried contacting Garmin but they said they cant do much wihtout proof of purchase, I asked if a Ebay print out would do but they said no Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Thanks

going to but I have to wait 10 days or something Sad (3 more to go). they have had 2 days to reply with a pin, first reply was "Its my sons and I will have to ask him", that was over a day ago, only takes 1 min to pick up the phone and phone him for a 4 digit pin so Im guessing its stolen (No box, No Instructions, No leather case, broken cigarette charger, no mains charger)

thinking of taking it to the police but wouldnt I loose the Sat Nav and my Money?

Thanks

Used to buy stuff on Ebay, my 2 Ebases for example. Stopped after a guy at work had huge probs with different sellers, fake (Chinese) headphones, missing components, broken stuff and what have you.

And I guess the Police would take the GPS from you, and then its up to Ebay to get your money back.

Open Excel. Enter 0 in the first cell and 1 in the cell below it. Select both cells and go to format - cell properties - custom and enter 0000 in the field. That is to show the lead zeros otherwise 0037 will appear as 37. Select both cells again and drag the right-hand bottom corner of the bottom cell downwards so that excel autofills the series with increments of 1. Stop when you get to 9999. Re-arrange the single column so that you can print it out easier. Have a nice weekend. Very Happy

Easiest way I could think of unless you are comfortable with programming.

thansk will have a go Smile

Filed a PAyPal complaint and guess what, Email from the seller near enough straight away! She said something like "Sorry but I have been working 24 hour days and my son has forgot the pin. You can buy a new pin for £15, If you want I wil send you £15 to cover the cost of a new pin"

LOL who the hell works 24 hour days!! (unless they are 24 hour self employed Sat Nav theives Razz )

You! Well you're going to have atleast a couple of long days if you're planning to try out all possible combinations. Very Happy Ask around some mobile stores or something to see it's possible to do what she says about getting a new pin. Maybe the upmarket stores don't do stuff like that but some stores do do stuff like remove sim-locks so it's worth a try.

In case you do go with brute force, you could improve your chances by starting with the 19xx series since some people use year of birth. Assuming the system doesn't block after a few incorrect pins.

10000 numbers by any chance ?

ebay is far to dodgy now , anything I see cheap I automatically assume as tainted Sad .

Do they have good feedback or use ebay quite alot ? If they have 1 or 2 transactions a week be civil until paypal lets you file the complaint and any money in the account should be locked down to the seller. then you at least have a chance of getting your cash back
