Since, I have start working after school, my friend got me that job so I work with her so sometimes her father comes to pick her up and they usually drive me home too since its on their way. He always says some funny stories or jokes. She also has 2 years younger sister and 7 year old sister. and on weekend when we don't, I go with her family to the park and play volleyball etc.

and this has got me thinking " shouldn't I do with with MY family? Im 18 years old, my dad is 60 and my mom is like 47...my father works night-shifts and barely see him during the week. He does not work on saturday and sometimes I want to talk to him about random bullshit but no words just wont come out of my mouth. It's like we have nothing in common anymore :/ When I was still younger and lived in Poland, he always that he is too old to do anything with me...Didnt want to play soccer with me and all that crap that kids and their father supose to do. and Im just too tired to talk with my mom after work and school so I just head straight to sleep.

Today too her father came to work with both her sisters and went to get some pizza and we all had great time, damn they even paid for my pizza :/

I have only one sister and she is 27yrs old and she works and goes to college so we barely see/talk since she takes classes late at night plus she lives in hear own little world.

I kinda wish that I would have younger brother or sister or even my age

All my cousins that are around my age, live in Poland and only get chance to see them when I go to Poland during summer. and I have absolutely amazing, somethings we do, just cant forget them.

call me emo, whinner or whatever you want but its really depressing that I need to hang out with strangers to satisfy my family needs since mine is fucking BORING.

I don't even know what to think about this. I understand that this is completely retarded thinking that I should just slap myself for saying all this crap, but I feel like sharing for quite some time

When, I get married,Ii shall have three kids so they wont have fucked up childhood like I had

i never had much of a relationship with my older brother & sister, i didnt really talk to them much at all.

we didnt really do much as a family either apart from the odd holiday each year until our house was burgled and the thiefs completly wrecked the house, splashing tomato sauce and stuff over everything including the walls and ceiling.
no more holidays after that Crying or Very sad

i remember my dad taking me to football matchs when i was really young and when i was around 11-15 he took me fishing which was something i was into and he didnt really care for.

at 18 i moved out of my parents and half way across the country so now i never speak to my sister or brother and i only see my parents around 4 times a year but i cant say it really bothers me to much.

i dont think there are that many really close familys anymore these days

I am think it is really great that you met such a nice family. Most good families would pay for their daughters family friends pizza. (least I would) Remember it only cost them maybe 6 $ but still it was a nice thing to do.

You are going to have a great new life in NY. Just don't be too trusting.

PS. No parent wants to give their kids a fucked up childhood, it is something that just ends up happening. Parents try their hardest. Sometimes it is not enought.

Indeed Pistol, but my parents always worked or had something to do or in my father case " too old to do anything" and I understand that he is old and cannot do some things that parents can do when they are in their 40's... I dont they did bad job but there is something missing

me and my friend sometimes laugh that she would like to have older brother and I that I would have younger sister ...hehe

You are a first generation US person and don't forget it. Your parents will always have different ideas that what you do. It doesn't mean what YOU THINK is worng, it is just different.

Trust me on this. I know and I am better friends with people who come from first gen familys.

Whatever they do to you that you don't like just make sure you don't do it to your own kids. Remember, but don't spoil.

Best wishes, it is a hard one. I have experience in this but I can't be bothered to explain.

Felt the same way about my stepdad. (until i left and dont speak with him anymore)

Anyway my real father is more like a friend that a father, so its pretty easy to talk to him. He is not a very responsible person so all in all im pretty happy I grew up with my mom.

Sorry but my parents didn't bought me new BMW when I got my driver license and they don't buy me clothes from american eagle that cost 100$ for a fucking tshirt

anyways my father was initially opposed coming to US in first place. He didn't even want to hear about it but when his mother told him that she wont make any dinner everyday and that she should go support his family and he did. He still hates being here and everything what has to do with US. His been saying for 6 years that. he will eventually in sometimes next 2-4 years go back to Poland for good. In addition to that, we about to buy a house, contract is already signed just waiting for the closing. kinda douchebag thing to do. tbh

This is retarded but when I'm bored
I think way too much about my life :/

I wasnt on good terms with my father for a long time. I have a mother biologically, but she is not my mother. anyway, this causesd a great rift between my dad and i.

It took alot of effot but we, after some time, worked out our differences and we worked hard at building a relationship. Now I see my dad all the time. Usually he comes to my place and we have espresso and talk about lots of things. I show him how to work computer and how to get stuff (he loves sci fi stuff like me).

Anyway, a father-son takes alot of effort to build and to maintiain but it is definetly worth it. I dont know what I would do without my father. He's helped me through so many things in the past few years, i cant imagine going through the stuff i have without him. and yes, he's old. in his 60's

So I suggest you take the effort hijacker. the benefits outweigh the concessions you'll have to make

I agree that relationships with your family are quite important. I consider my bro one of my best friends, we see each other at least once a week even though we live in different cities.

I also have 3 sisters who I see on a regular basis (well technically step-sisters, but we've been part of the same family for more than half of my life). In fact I'm going on a trip to florida this coming week .. going with my bro, 2 of my sisters (+ 1 husband), and my cousin (+1 husband). I guess it helps we are all around the same age ... I'm 28, bro is 30 ... sisters are 22, 25, 27.

My parents (mom + step-dad) are only 51 and 50 so they're still young enough to do stuff with us. My mom even makes sure to get us all together at their place once a month for dinner as well.

So yeah, I come from a pretty close family ... been like that most of my life. I guess I should mention I do have a biological father who lives in florida ... spent maybe a total of 4-5 weeks with him in the past 20 years :/

I realise what luck and greatness I have for my relationship with my father.. Hes like my brother.. I can talk about anything and everything. I see him every single day, I use the large sofa for my macbook and he uses the chair opposite me for his.. so when im surfing at night hes right opposite me talking away about stuff. And when I am at work, it is his local bar so hes in there too chatting to me over the bar.

I can't imagine not being really close to him, I feel for you man I just can't imagine my life being like that.

you should be glad you have friends outside your family. You know your parents will always be there for you, no matter what. When it really matters, they will be there for you

Now you have some extra friends, enjoy it Smile
