Shall we begin?

Plot.

Quote:

In this exploration of our violent society and how depictions of violence reflect and shape our culture, a middle-class housewife Anna tells the story of how she and her husband George and their 10-year-old son Georgie submitted both physically and mentally to the torture, violence, and death foisted upon them by two young, unexpected, white-gloved visitors at their weekend vacation retreat near a lake.

What's moreover funny is that it's Haneke himself who is remaking it.

But bleh, I prefer the original.

Upcoming PC games 2009 and onwards

What immediately strikes me as quite naive is the fact that you appear not to have seen nor heard that Haneke is making it himself, using his original as a complete reference shot-to-shot with the same manuscript.
The apparent difference is the language and cast.

As someone mentioned on IMDB - what the fuck is the purpose of remaking something perfect and that doesn't need adaptation (similar culture, faces, furniture etc.).

P.S. those korean/chinese/honkong directors were also remaking their movies for US themselves and we all know the results

P.P.S. this movie is NOT about fx

Because there are always money to be made, Haneke obviously thought the previous film didnt get the approbiate respons from the US and instead of filling it with mindless clichés and retarded storylines (as we see with all the other US remakes) he casted well known actors in the same settings.

That's why I say it will be crappy. Those actors were perfect as the crazy guys and no Tim Roth can beat it. Also they were YOUNG, that was part of the effect. And the US version will clearly be a stupid slasher.

What are you talking about, as I said earlier this is a shot-to-shot remake meaning the same emphasis on the storytelling elements = No slashing, the two insane guys are both in their twenties as were they in the original.

well, i for one wont watch it as i d rather re-watch the original. I m not bothered about it though either. It s his right to remake his movie for another market and i hope he ll do well with it, as it was a great movie, that didnt get the recognition it deserved imho. As long as they dont show an overdubbed version of it again over here, i m fine with it Very Happy
