Well for those of you that care in the UK, and you should, the Digital Economy Bill has passed through the House of Commons.

What does this mean:

First, you, the owner of your IP/net connection will be responsible for making sure it isn't used to for illegal file sharing, even if you weren't the infringer. Three strikes, and you'll have to appeal to keep your connection, which could be long winded and expensive.

Most free public Wi-Fi access points will disappear due to the above.

The new law will give enhanced power credence to law gold digging firms who will try to solicit extort money from any individual who they believe 'may' have downloaded copyrighted material.

This is not good, and marks a significant shift for all Internet users in the UK.

Now you can either sit on your hands and do nothing, mutter on this forum, or get in touch with your member of Parliment.

No doubt Mandleson will be picking up a big cheque from the likes of David Geffen for a job well done on protecting the publishing fat cats.

I predict the former rather than the latter.

it would of probably gone through regardless, we said no to our water being polluted with mercury but they still went ahead and did it.. I have no faith in any political sort these days, im not normaly one to say fuck it, i dont care no more, because that is why were in a mess as it is, but shit its like anything we do of late or ask for falls on deaf ears.,..

what it needs is an upheaval.. nobody is gonna listen to shit from the people no more unless they act with full on violence/power and that means EVERYONE has to not just a handful..

Need to move somewhere else I think ..

not sure, ive been rather uninterested in years of the various party types, they all suck regardless of what they all say, the best bet in my eyes is to keep ONE party in and yeah let them fuck up a bit and then get around to fixing it, because the way i see it everytime we get a new face it just re-rolls the same shit that the previous face did to us here and rinse fucking repeat..

changing over all the time is not always a good deal i think, ok in some areas problems can be instantly made better due to some odd policy that grabs the voters and gets implemented for just that reason soon as they get feet in number 10..
But in long run its not making the UK better to me, its just rewinding over and over again.. Sometimes I wonder if a joint hung parliment and forced to stick it out longterm and work on differences would generally be a better bet.
