No such brands here, I have traxdata, Imation, Phillips and verbatim, the phillips seems to be 2,4x that just barely covers it and it also says "jewel case" I don't know what that means.

Jewel case just means the type of case it comes in. IE the old style CD cases.

Not really. I bought a Core console which came with the memory unit but since I bought the HDD, the memory unit has gathered a lot of dust. I suppose you could use it to take your save games to a friends house if you wanted to.

What's up with the hard drive, on the box is says 20gb and on the dashboard 13.9 capacity and 9.9 free, where did the 4 gigs go? The size is like halfed right at the start and I didn't even play anything for long.

Well I formated and now it's 13.9 he, I lost icons and themes they must be pretty big probably some movies to.

well it's also pretty useful if you're paranoid about getting banned like me^^
I have my offline profiles/savegames stored on the memory card which i unplug when i play online; and a "clean" gamertag on the hard disc for xbl...
dunno if it's of any use tho'

yeah that's normal.. but what's the deal with that anyway? 13.9gb AFTER formatting a 20gb HDD? Sounds like a rip-off :<

MS doesn't ban your gamertag, your console is banned. The gamertag can still be used on a different console after the ban.

i know.. but they'll still "read" your gamertag in order to find out if you've played gta4 early for example.
but yeah.. ultimately you're probably right i guess..

how do they know which console to ban then? if they base the banning on the gamertag going onto live?

i have 2 profiles on my hdd, one for offline backups, one for online originals... sammy flashed with xtreme 4.2, still have not been banned

No one knows how they ban, what they ban and when they ban. So you're never 100% safe, whatever you do. It seems like they ban the console ID if a copied DVD is detected, so make sure your ethernet cable isn't connected when you play a burned game. People say the new Ixtreme FW is safe on Live, but you'll never know for sure. If you don't need Live, enjoy the ride as long as it lasts. There are also rumours going around that the Xbox stores data to send it out later, if that's true you're fucked no matter what you do. But that doesn't seem to be the case right now.
