Guys,
Ive decided to study web-design and creation but i'm in total loss regardin where to begin Laughing ...

Can anyone tell me what software is considered to be the "best" for web design and programming and maybe suggest some courses for begginers on web-design theory?

I'm thinking about getting some Lynda.com stuff but, since i don't know exactly what I'm supposed to study, i don't know what to get. Very Happy

Photoshop CS3 for the design, CSS coding for the.. coding.

I recommend you join a site such as www.talkfreelance.com or www.sitepoint.com as it is filled to the brim with members (like myself) who have been in the web design 'biz' for years Smile

Photoshop + Notepad2 for me.

Dreamweaver if I need to test anything particular or forgot a tag or special character.

You don't need any courses to learn web-design, just read up on the myriads of html/css tutorials on the web, really. I frequently try to w3schools.com for more info on some css properties.

Don't use dreamweaver for "making" your actual site though, its ok for reference (although web references are far better and you don't need to install crap software)..

http://www.w3schools.com/

That place is probably the best in my opinion.

Exactly how much money can you make at that "talkfreelance" site? I have moderate to good skills in HTML CSS, SQL, PHP and Javascript. I can probably increase them quite a lot to professional levels if i read a few tutorials and practice for a bit. How much money could i make if i did this full time? I can currently only do it in my spare time since i'm a student right now, but i would definitely not mind doing this over the summer full time.

Gigabyte S-Series GA-G33-DS3R, Intel C2D Quad Q6600 OC @ 3.2Ghz, 4gb Kingston PC8500 1066Mhz DDR2, Geforce 7800GTX (will get a 9800GTX when they are released), 2 x 250Gb HD's and a case with built in paper and lotion dispenser.

I can earn anything from £200 to £2000 a week with talkfreelance alone, just post you are looking for work and host your portfolio etc, the place gets thousands of hits every day from punters wanting work done of all sizes Smile But be warned, if you dont have a top notch portfolio, there are another 50 guys who do. One chap on there who is a very close friend of mine has well over 20 itrades alone on there for jobs over a few hundred, he earns his living for the past 2-3 years with advertisement from talkfreelance and a few other places. In fact id say 90% of his money comes when people see his portfolio on talkfreelance.
