As Animal_Father mentioned this swedish director among his list of "good" directors - I felt an urge to mention how much I dislike his movies. His movies are imo totally worthless and the director was nothing but an ego tripped selfish bastard. It's guys like him who made me feel ashamed of being swedish Edit: It's a good thing we're well known for porn too atleast shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

I guess at the time (most of his films where done 50s-early 70s) they where sort a new and had a big impact on things. But I tend to agree with Anthirs in a way, but not quite. Fanny and Alexander is a great movie if you ask me, so is The Seventh Seal, although you have to get sort a in to it. I think he had a great impact as to a story is told and also the way the camera can tell a story. I am sure a lot of the great directors like Scorsese, Spielberg and what have you where inspired or studied his films at one point or another. His films can come across as gloomy and weird, but if you get in to them, its like reading a book or listening to a classical concert, but you have to be in the right state of mind though.

Bergman is highly overrated, just like all the swedish actors, with maybe the exception of the late Ernst-Hugo Järegård. I also think fisk should be unbanned.
