Does anyone know what are good DVD-R discs to use for PS2. I ran out of my old good discs (i wish I knew which brand they were) and bough two sets of new ones from different manufacturers but they both suck big time. My PS2 can actually read the one set of discs but the load times are rediculous and the other set of discs don't even boot up. I'm using the USB mod also. Any suggestions on what are compatible? Perhaps is my Pioneer DVR-105 writer?

go for ritek made media that uses the G04 dye. Ridata 4x for example.
cant really go wrong with them unless you get a bad batch which can happen with any media.

I've been using Emtec Dvd-R recently, and I've got no complains about'em =) Was actually quite surprised @ their quality, and how good they read on the Ps2

Why don't canibals eat clowns ? 'Cause they taste funny.

It depends on which Verbatims you'll get. There are so many different ones. I had a very bad experience with Verbatim recently. I bought a 25-spindle and my PS2 can't read them at all and my Xbox can only read them until 3 GB. I think only the printable Verbatims are ok.
I would just get ritekg04 discs.

you must have gotten a bad batch weedo.
i have used verbatim non printable and i have never had any problems.
i dont use them now though since they are way more expensive than ridata for example.
i have also used verbatim dvd+rw and that too works like a charm on my ps2.

but yeah ritekg04 is a safe purchase Smile

many media can work but some work better than others.
you can actually hear if your ps2 loves the disc.
if there is a dark like sound when the disc is beeing read its great.
a lighter sound means its not as good.

a lighter sound now and then means that the ps2 have a harder time reading the disc.
a darker means it has no problems whatsoever to read the disc.

i have used a few sony dvd+r also and they work and everything but i can hear that the ps2 have a harder time reading them.
