OCZ preps neural headband controller
Quote: | The folks at OCZ have been talking for a while about a device known as the Neural Impulse Actuator, which employs several sensors embedded in a headband to read certain electrical impulses from the wearer, theoretically acting as a PC input device. Our own Cyril Kowaliski even got to try out the device at Computex last year, affording us a priceless opportunity to publish a picture of him wearing a headband.
Last week at CES, I got an update on OCZ's progress with the device, courtesy of Dr. Michael Schuette, OCZ's VP of Technology Development. Dr. Schuette has teamed up with the inventor of the device to improve it and prepare it for release as a product.

Forget how it makes you look, think of all the applications something like this could be put to. They're already working on input devices for the physically impaired but I am sure a lot of other applications are possible too.

i'd grab an oldschool toy guy and pretend to shoot my screen. Hopefully the sensors would pick up on my urge to shoot and urge to look around and such. HOLY Crap that seems like so much fun.
Who cares how it looks really.

OCZ's Brain mouse to cost €149
The U.S. gets it for $159
Quote: | We found out that OCZ's Neural Impulse Actuator, or shortly NIA, should be available in Europe for €149, and that price includes VAT.
OCZ's NIA looks like an interesting product but such a high price tag might be a problem. It is still early for such product to make any interesting progress on the market, but it has to start somewhere. We were lucky to try it, and we can say that it looks and feels good. We followed it progress all the way from when it looked like a sweat-band with serial input to USB rubberized head-band that works and looks much better.
The first batch of NIA should hit store shelves in about 2-3 weeks, and US market will be able to get it for $159. This US/EU prices are at least much lower than the initially expected 200-300 in both euros and US$.
