So, today I was asked to attend a native ceremony at the friendship center. I was presented with a talking stick, on behalf of the Native peoples and myself (and work.) for the work we've done with some of the aboriginal community. It's a great honour and was a surprise, it's more of an award than a traditional gift where they would craft one for a special purpose. But regardless I am very proud of it, and will cherish it forever. Speaking entirely unprepared in front of about 100 native people after getting something like that was quite tough. They all clapped and I still have my scalp, so I must have done ok.
