I have been promoted to Security Administrator at my company a few months ago and I have had control over almost all access to the computer network and building. I can see who goes to what site and can give access to certain files/folders all across the network to whoever I want, etc.

There have been some people just whining and bitching how "stressful" they are or how many hours they work blah blah blah. All they do is sit their asses down at a desk and answer phones, do PO's and/or proof read. Big whoop. I also work as an EMT and I deal with people bleeding out, screaming in my ear and (for example) trying to triage three dumb kids that slammed head on into a lightpost because they were speeding down an icy highway. I work 16 hours and even 24hr shifts on weekends on top of my regular job so I think I know a little about "stress". Yet I can handle it and I don't bitch and whine all the time. Now I'm not saying I'm perfect. There are days when I have had enough and just can't take it and need to step back. But these pansy asses can't even handle a 10 hour day like hmmm, once a month maybe? And then they complain ALL the time EVERY day for two weeks after. It has gotten on my nerves.

So I have been abusing my power a little. Shutting down people's systems, deleting their printers, bringing them back, moving files to other locations. Redirecting them to certain websites. It's been a blast. Anyone ever do stuff like this to people that annoy them? Am I a bad person? Nothing is ever permanent and I always fix what I screw around with, but it's funny to see certain people go "OMG WTF!" every once in a while.

I think I'm starting to hate the people at my job... Razz

Im also an system administrator. When I started I had to sign some papers that said if I abuse my power I could get from 6 months - 2 years in jail.

Id love to kid around like that too, but we got 2000 clinets and only 1 person on the helpdesk at the time, so we don't have time to joke around like that. There is ALWAYS stuff to do where I work, real stressy, at least now as some peope have taken their winter vacations.

And if im not on the helpdesk im driving out printers, laptops, LCD screens. Setting up ports in the Cisco etc. etc. We work as a team so it wouldnt be appropriert.

That gives me an idea, where I work I have terminal remote to like most ISPs in the country... "What you say? Want 56k for life?" Having control of most adsl DSLAMs and Fiber networks, gives you alot neat stuff to play with Very Happy

But Im a nice guy... So I dont do that... Riiight =)

When i worked in QA sometimes i had to go into the office on sundays where i was pretty much on my own , i would put all the keys on the pc keyboards in alpha order , and switch vga cables on back to back pcs. only really done it because the IT guy was a tw@ and i knew it would piss him off on monday.

Also use to do the old " make horse porn dir on desktop print screen del folder and set as desktop wallpaper" Very Happy

That would be funny watching their reactions but I think you need to find a better way to spend your free time at work before you lose your job. Post more on NFOrce or something Razz

I think you need some kind of holiday because it sounds like you work too much are really stressed out. You deserve a break.

the best trick is to make a screen shot of the desktop , hide all the icons and the start bar , then set this desktop picture as the new background Wink

or

turn the power saving mode on that turns all HDD and screen stuff when he will not move his mouse for one minute Razz

Abusing your power dosnt make you a bad person as long as you focus your power to the lazy panzies that cry and moan about everything...your actualy giving them something to cry about

Like every boss I suppose, Ive had my bad days where I take out personal issues on some of the guys. But usually they understand and I apologize to them indivdually later on if I really mad an ass of myself. Im known for having a very volatile temper as it is so they understand.
Least people know when Im really mad and serious Razz
