They're talking about organized crime and mass sale of pirated goods. Like it or not those are heavily linked with the mafia. Nothing to do with busting P2P kiddies.

Talking about twisting the facts to suit their means. I am glad I live in Canada. Nice find repo1. They are just pulling shit facts outta their ass.
Altho I don't care so much for people who are selling warez and making money off it. China with its selling of warez and knock offs is where the orginized crime is. Not in the US or Canada.

I think they are telling facts about what they are finding, criminals don't just deal in drug's and arms anymore, they will do anything to make money. They do probably find these things.
What is upsetting is that they are trying to draw a parallel to selling an illegal CD or the like, to
selling Crack Cocaine or other harsh drugs to children, and preying on the weak. Those who cannot fend for themselves.

I know but they don't have anywhere near the power the RIAA has. They can't sue us for dl. I think they went after the ISP's but that go shot down.

exactly and it pisses me off because their is always some dumb ass that believes them and it makes me soooo MADD to listen to these people blindly repeat what the RIAA says, like how the RIAA is actually protecting us.

That RIAA guy (and chick, who i'd tap by the way) are so right! Pirated CD cases are just INDISPENSABLE for hiding dead bodies and illegal firearms! Just last week when the cops raided my place, i had no less than 3 dead hookers hidden inside CD cases (cleverly disguised as perfectly legal vanilla ice CD's! The cops refused go anywhere near them!), plus several handguns and an assault rifle. They had no clue! They even apologized for raiding me afterwards since they couldn't find anything!

No. They never said that pirating goods was a "gateway" to even heavier, more organized crime, like marijuana is a "gateway drug" to cocaine (which is absolute BS). They are saying that the street sales of pirated goods are usually associated with illegal drug and firearms trade. And thats the truth. A lot of those street stands with CDs in the seedier parts of San Francisco are run by the local gang, just like the drug dealers. So yes, for once the RIAA is correct, if you are arresting street sellers there's a good chance that it will lead you to the middle of an organized crime ring. And besides, sellers need to die. People who profit off of other people's intellectual property like that get no sympathy from me. If the RIAA is going after them, more power to them.

Well I guess I don't know too much about underground pirated good sellers expect to say that whenever I have been somewhere I prob shouldn't of been nobody has ever asked if I wanted to buy a pirated game or dvd/cd. Electronics, yes, a frozen turkey meant for the less fortunate, yes. I would laugh at them if they did. I imagion this happens in china tho because I have read about people buying pirated software from stores thinking they were buying legit stuff.
I guess there is a whole bunch of variables in this I know nothing about. Too bad it was just a clip and not the whole thing

Yep. Cops call those copies straight silver. From what I understand, a factory in China gets an order for a certain amount of CDs. They make twice the amount, and then ship off the requested amount. The other half, they hand off to a middleman of the local mob. That middleman then takes the leftover CDs, and gets them to the box factory which was contracted for making the game boxes. And so you package everything into a legit looking package, and sell it. Those sorts of copies are sold from Malaysia to Greece. Its crazy, organized, and apparently extremely profitable.
Saw some document on this from ?interpol?. It was an interesting read.
Anyways, that which I just described, and good old street dealing of warez is what the RIAA is after in the above vid, not the regular downloaders that frequent NFOrce
