I'm in need a quick advice ... i have been using norton ghost 2003 version booting with it on a diskette for years up to now, when i received my new pc without a floppy drive Sad

Wanting to update my os backup software, i thought to get the latest ghost or acronis trueimage: which one (or even other ones) is better & more reliable ?

Thanks.

Just like more or less ten years ago when my pc crashed totally, i went to restore an older Ghost version image and ... i found it blank lol Sad

Anyway it seems really a good prog, thanks again.

So what's the advantage of using this instead of the old tried and true format and re-install?

It saves tons TONS of time.

i normally install win, all updates, mobo drivers, sometimes gfx, basic apps that don't update every 2 seconds. Then i make the true image. When i want to format, it takes less then an hour for me to be gaming again. Smile

Absolutely, i would say even a couple of tons Smile

i always make a clean install image after the basic windows installation, then i made one after installing all the stuff you mentioned and then again i made a regular additional image say every month
backups of my data are treated separately on rewritable dvds
for ten-twenty minutes of time every month i can go and install anything with a very very minimal possibility of losing data and being able to restore my pcs in half an hour maybe even less
obviously if the imaging program works properlyyyyy Smile

p.s. don't say i'm a backup paranoid Smile
