ratings are always going to be subjective, so it seems a bit dumb to suddenly.. in the middle of 2010.. after ratings have existed since before time... to suddenly call someone out for a rating 'not really meaning shit'... if you rate a movie 10/10, what does that mean to me? nothing.
all his score means, is that to him, the picture is pretty good, and the sound is above average... what more do you want?

All questions are answered i think .. just wanted to let you all know a descent cam came out for all who are waiting for it. Still havent seen it yet but i will when i have the time

I'm sorry but Shrek is meant to be 100% fun without heavy moralization crap.
Problems discussed in 4 are quite common and I don't think it's something you should be reminded of on a lazy Saturday afternoon when you come to the theatre for a good laugh.
There's enough series and movies about that shit AND in real life that "Oh, let's just forget all the daily boring stuff and remember that we love each other" doesn't often work.
I saw A LOT of sad faces thinking about their crappy lives when walking out after the movie.
And please don't say such poking-where-it-hurts HELPS. It just doesn't.

many family films have a 'message', i dont see the problem? besides, its a perfectly GOOD message to promote, and its not an insulting one like the religious or political or whatever messages that get thrown at you in most 'grown up' movies. besides, the only time it was ever really 'pushed' was to book-end the film.. to set it up and to close it.
The message never bothered me, it was a good one, and id even say its one that people, especially kids, SHOULD learn ( to appreciate what you have, and so on), and i never felt that it bombarded me throughout, so i dont really see your point to be honest, and i REALLY dont see how it could effect your ability to enjoy the film. you must hate a lot of movies, because very few of them DONT carry some type of message, and this one was really very harmless.

Every shrek had a message. An important one at that.
This one was just a remake of It's a Wonderful Life and it was done well
the fat cat jokes were shit though
one was repeated thrice
the obvious punchlines
some jokes were great
it still has a feel of the 3rd shrek
but at least some of its humor isn't bad.
I'm pretty sure you hate pixar movies as well cause they hold messages as well 
if you saw sad faces maybe because of the happy ending that actually brought conclusion to the series and to a decent animated modern remake of IaWL? My gf cried. was it cause the movie was awful and depressing? I'd lol if you say yes.
Maybe you're the problem... thinking this movie is trying to force ideals about true love down your throat.
