This looks insanely awesome and after seeing the virtual tour and creation by TheEMUreview, I'm definitely going to be checking this out All those arcade cabs... yum! Right now the existing base and prototype are completely free and available from Steam, with no restrictions on modding or content creation, though the developers are hoping to take it commercial once the game/app/thing is complete and finished. I only just found out that they had a Kickstarter campaign too, though it failed miserably
It's so disappointing to see they didn't even get HALF of what they needed on Kickstarter. The idea is amazing and it has so much potential, I'm just really glad they didn't give up and went ahead with development anyhow. Hopefully once the "full/pay for" version comes out, the devs can make some good money.
BUT! only as long as it remains a single-buy item and not nickel'n'dimed like HOME or anything else similar. I don't want to be hit with "Oak wood table, €0.69!" nonsense everywhere
The developer is going back to Kickstarter with a much smaller goal now.. and considering he's released the "base" of it for free on Steam, where people can see and play and enjoying, I reckon there will be no trouble shattering the goal this time.
Article detailing the new Kickstarter ($1000 goal) as well as the myriad updates the game/app has received since it hit Steam a couple months back. It's all still completely free - I genuinely don't know how he's going to make money from any of this but even if progress stopped today, it would still be a fantastic suite.
Oh it's absolutely pointless, it's a gimmick more than anything but what a gimmick! I can imagine visiting other people's arcades in MP mode using the Rift The only drawback is that people can't "play" your games unless they have the exact same thing installed.
