question 1)

Anyone have any experience with this disk drive? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135156

2) What's a good tv tuner? I was looking at the Happauge WinTV models.

Hauppage has become pretty much the standard since it introduced hardware encoders although there are cards which deliver better quality.

There is also a good quality card called the saber 2020 for pci express 1x slots.

In any case avoid Pinnacle because that's one card I do have experience with and it's not good. Driver support is very bad.

Why not go for Nec instead? Cheap, and reliable.

I have an Avermedia hybrid card (analog/DVB-T), it was damn cheap while better than the others crappy TV tuner and brands previously tested (Pinnacle, Hauppage, Leadtek). Wink Good drivers support (vista x86 & x64 from its beta version), decent software, fully recognized by Windows Media center, etc.

I like the ATI TV wonder quality but the question is, how shitty is driver support. It is ATI afterall.

Well this isn't really like their gfx cards for which it seems that you need a new batch of drivers for every new game. Smile
Their TV tuners have Vista and XP drivers but not linux ones : http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
