Hi, yestarday I tried to install Windows vista with all updates till january, all went fine and the installation was fine. I change res, options in control panel, etc. Today, I have an issue: My control panel does not work anymore. I tried to remove all the programs that I have installed but the problem remains. I installed vista x64, and I have a Core 2 Duo 6850, Nvidia 8800GTX, 4 G Ram, P5K deluxe. Any ideas how to resolve this issue? Tnks Smile

Don't you have some restore point to try out?
Otherwise if you installed it yesterday just reinstall rather than bothering yourself finding a culprit.

I can´t go to my restore point because I can´t open control panel. And I´m sure this issue is caused by some software that I hava installed. If I install the windows again, I think that can happen again. Any more ideas?

BTW you could have launched the restore app with this command: C:\Windows\System32\rstrui.exe

vista anti piracy killed your control panel, and put you in limited functionality mode Laughing soon you will only be able to launch explorer at the start of windows to buy vista

im not joking happened to me twice , once was for a update i shouldnt have installed on a cracked version the second time was because i switched out a soundcard.

your suposed to reactivate when that happens if your running a good bios crack you should be able to just reboot and it will work again but if it happens a 3rd time vista complete locks out the os and all you can do is choose to buy vista again or phone ms up for a special key to unlock your os.

there suposed to have made it so all you get in sp1 is your desktop settings dont save and some other annoying things that dont really matter though so if your running sp1 now i dont think you should end up with the control panel beeing locked

Ok, It works. Thanks. But it´s only a temporary solution, when I restart it happens again. Everytime that I reboot I have to do that. Sad
