|
 |
What does it mean to be British? I'm asking ths cos of the many threads (mainly in the world news section) concerning the way us Brits have lost our identity and are turning into a Muslim mini state.
So this question is for the Brits on here, we all know there are ridicuous stereotypes for nearly all races across the globe.
I'm sure many of these you will have heard:
British = Cold,stiff upper lips,restrained,unfriendly (bullshit)
French = Garlic eating cowards, with no backbone (bullshit)
Americans = Fat stupid violent warlike idiots with no idea there is a world outside of the U.S (bullshit)
etc etc etc
Of course these sterotypes apply to some of these people, and of course to people the world over.
So enough babbling to all those who post in the world news section complaining about Red Ken and no-go Muslim ghettos in the U.K.
What have we lost?
What is this "Britishness" that we hold so dear and are in fear of losing forever?
Personally I think people are the same the world over, there are dickheads in every corner of the globe and we cannot differentiate because of someones religion, colour, facial features etc.
However I do sometimes feel like a stranger in my own country and this is a bad thing for me, because I consider myself very open-minded and I embrace diversity. (cliche i know)
So post if you have a mind to and explain what it is thats at risk and what we stand to lose..

i'd say hugh grant adhere's to british stereotype
if anything britain is an extra state of america through it's politics, it's not an islamic mini-state by any means, there are communities here and there but the country is still predominantly full of white people and statistics would reflect this..

Quote: | Being British,
Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish
pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a
Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American
shows on a Japanese TV.
And then most British thing of all? Suspicion of all things foreign!
Only in Britain can a pizza get to your house faster than
an ambulance.
Only in Britain do supermarkets make sick people walk all the
way to the back of the shop to get their prescriptions while healthy people
can buy cigarettes at the front.
Only in Britain do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a DIET coke.
Only in Britain do banks leave both doors open and chain the pens to the counters.
Only in Britain do we leave cars worth thousands of pounds on the drive and lock our
junk and cheap lawn mower in the garage.
Only in Britain do we use answering machines to screen calls and then havecall waiting so we won't miss a call
from someone we didn't want to talk toin the first place.
Only in Britain are there disabled parking places in front of a skating rink.
Laughing This was taken from a clan forum that im part of.

Haha
Very good and true at the same time.

I wouldn't trust any national office when it's being managed by Labour.

Look at Bradford. So many different ethnics there the street signs are in Arabic.

Well the census won't include illegal immigrants. It won't include people who have missed or not filled in the census forms.
As for trusting Labour run national offices and ministries.
