This is a weird question, i admit that, but..

are there any videos out there that come in 720p resolution, wich only contains awesome visuals, to show how beautiful HD-video really is? Not movies with actors and stuff, just visual demonstrations, or what the hell you´d call it Razz

Pretty much all bluray movies have this sort of thing, but I don't know if there are any rips or whatnot of them.

Okay, so i got the Planet.Earth.01.From.Pole.to.Pole.2006.1080p.HDDVD.x264-AJP episode, and the video stutters from time to time? Any ideas why? Both in WMP and VLC..

Edit: Hmm, could it be the release? my HD version of Transformers does not stutter, not from the parts ive watched so far.. that a 720p release though, if that matters..

Edit 2: oh, i found the Planet.Earth.2006.720p.HDDVD.x264-ESiR, i guess someone here has it?

Ohyeah, one more thing - the Planet Earth episode i have is a .mkv file, all the other stuff i have is WMV. Well, i have a couple of Family Guy mkv´s too, but they dont really count, do they? Razz

Also, the Planet Earth mkv stutter more or less at the same position/time, thats why i think its to blame. But WMP and VLC handle the stutter differently. Sometimes it stops completely in VLC, only to continue a few secs later, and in WMP it just messes up the image..

Anyway, i figured i didnt have a codec before i started viewing mkv´s since WMP wouldnt play them. So i grabbed one called Haalli Media/Matroska Splitter, and after that WMP played the files, even though it said when i first opened them that it didnt recognize the file, and i could just try to play it anyway. VLC ofcourse played mkv before i installed any coded.

had stuttering of x264 encoded had films on an old pc... made coreavc the default decoder, and that fixed it... seems less cpu intensive than anything else, so give that a shot.

its also a lot cheaper than a cpu upgrade.

Neutral I wonder when proper versions of LOTR will come out (of the extended editions, of course)... It's jsut a shame that the best trilogy doesn't have a proper HD releases.

I wonder how subjective their list is ... for instance they give 'The Punisher' the lowest tier calling it barely an upgrade from the dvd, but all of these sites give it good reviews and say it looks great:

vid quality = 90% - http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/punisher.html
vid quality = 90% - http://www.dvdauthority.com/reviews.asp?reviewID=4955
vid quality = 80% - http://www.dvdtown.com/reviews/punisher/3777/2

Laughing How many of the people adding to that list do you think have a TV-set with proper black levels?

What I derive from that post is an inaccurate list. Good idea, but doesn't quite work.

I would trust AVS tier system over any review sites.
