draw weapon, once you get by an enemy you swing, let him finish his animation, once it's near done your cursor will turn into flames. That means you should click the swing button again to start a combo, once he's almost dont again it'll change into fire once more and you can finish the combo.

also make sure your facing the enemy because that really helps.
not much to add to what spykez said, because thats all there is too it... well aside from where he wrote 'almost dont', personally id probably say 'almost done', but aside from that, he did pretty well

Bah, got the controls to work and so - but the combat system wasnt really my cup of tea. Repeative and boring.

weeeeeeeeellll yes and no, i didnt much like them to begin with either, but as you level up you start adding additional movements to your combat chain, including the ability to build up an attack by holding the attack button down.
i think the game really needed something to make the combat more interactive, like blocking and parry controls to really make the combat more fun and complex
so yeah to some degree i agree with you, but i still enjoyed the game a hell of a lot.

yeah i didnt like the opening prologue
but if you hate it by chapter 2, then i doubt ur going to get into it, so quit on chapter 2 if you still arent feelin it... to me, it was a game that sucked at the beginning but got better and better, rather than a game that was great at the start and got boring by the end.

I played on hard and found the combat to be pretty challenging.
You really gotta use alchemy a lot and use the right potions, skills and weapons in combat which makes it a lot more interesting.
With the challenge comes frustration though, so I guess it's not a good idea to play on hard if you give up easily. But if you like a good challenge then playing the witcher on hard is a great thing.
