Version 1.3 of iXtreme was released recently for Samsung TS-H943:

(v1.3) Improved media detection
(v1.3) Fixed PTP DVD Movies
(v1.3) More Secure for Xbox Live
(V1.3) Multiple Speed Versions

Has anybody updated yet?

Just flashed to the 8x version now and wow I can hear again. Can't really comment on the other improved features but less noise alone is a good reason to update (and still be able to use cheap media unlike the last 'slow' fw.. for me at least).

I havent updated yet. But yea 1.2C is loud as hell. I can't hear anything else in the room. Whats the original speed of the 360 drive?

Version 1.4 is out. Apparently it fixes the disc jitter problem which caused the recent mass banning on Live.

(v1.4) Disc jitter fix

http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEAZEluuVErbIGVFWP.php

i dont know if this is worth upgrading :-/ again a rather radom bug which *maybe* caused the bannings.
for me everything is still working with 1.2c .. guess i wont bother to take my whole system apart again.

I just never put my entire 360 case back together since like september. I cant stand the opening of the case part it takes me forever. Especially opening the back of the case with those little things that you have to push in to unlock.

I just lift the top and do whatever I need to do to it Twisted Evil

after being annoyed with read speeds and forgetting to put my eject button back on once Sad

Mmmm think it's more dangerous to change your firmware after having been on live then using the older 1.2c...

Flashed mine straight out of the box and had no issues on live so far (fingers crossed)

Yea its pretty convenient to have it open. And surprisingly even though I had it open for a while, theres like no dust that goes inside. The motherboard and heatsinks stay squeaky clean otherwise I wouldve put it all back together a long time ago.

The only downside of having it open (besides the way it looks) is that you need a screw driver to press the eject button.

Oh yes definitely. Right after I fixed my red light issue, I put the case back together and it red lit immediately after putting it all back together. Its because you have to keep flipping the console from one side to another and turn it upside down when screwing the motherboard and top cover back on. My motherboard isnt even screwed down to the metal case. The only thing that is screwed down on my xbox is the heatsinks to the motherboard. And everything else is just chillin Cool

But nothing is loose though. All the components are pretty solid. Unless you flip my xbox upside down, then the drive might just fall out lol. This is probably a bad idea for those who keep their xboxes standing up. Mine lays down so its not much of a problem.

this is just acrylic box with 360 parts stuffed in

i'm pretty sure with 150e budget i could do better, but it wouldn't be transparent

it would look like this or similiar

still don't understand why none of the consoles have any kinda lcd displays, even simple dvd lcd display would do the trick, it's just every time i watch something i have to press button to see how much time left/passed, pretty lame imo

cheap ass dvd with display costs 25 euro where cheapest console ps2/xbox 100-150e and doesn't have any, wtf?

But the 360 has a circular light though! its kiinda like a display

Green = Smile
Red = Sad

I wish there was a temperature monitor on the x360 chips like Radeon video cards. So youll know when to let your system rest before it red rings again.

but you shouldn't need to let a games console rest, should be able to use it when you need to, like a TV
