Because it runs like shit and it looks like shit if you put in on medium. Far Cry looked and ran much better on high than Crysis on medium. If that's progress then I can live without it!
UE3, that's a good engine! Good graphics and good performance.

uh... it runs perefectly on average hardware and looks at least 10 times better than Farcry. 999 people out of 1000 will say that because it's fucking obvious. it's totally in your face.

It runs perfectly on average hardware?? Well if you call a Core 2 Duo with 2 GB and a 8800GT with 512 MB average hardware then yes. But this isn't average at all. It's expensive high-end hardware. On average hardware Crysis looks and runs like shit. That's just the truth. And I didn't say Far Cry looks better than Crysis. I said Far Cry on high looks better than Cryisis on medium!

Anyway, this has got so much out of proportions. All I said was an engine doesn't automatically dictate if a game is good or not, although in the case of Deus Ex 3, with the TRL engine ( ), that might just be the case. |

i know, that Farcry got some new features but the pictures you have posted are not from the orignial Farcry. These pictures are from a big mod for Farcry...
And im not playing Crysis on Medium or Low Settings... Crysis runs good an High-Settings and it looks extremly better under high compared to Farcry.

Its about the pictures he posted - those are not from the original Farcry with 1.4 patch...

No the Engine is optimized for High and Very High.
Medium and Low only for old PCs.
And on Medium im getting average of 70-80fps with a C2D @ 3,2GHz and 8800GTS. Thats more then enough.
And two points of Crysis @ medium is still better then Farcry @ High.
1. Viewing distance (yes - i know of Farcry 64bit Patch.. but its not as good as in Crysis)
2. Textures
