I got an EAH3780 from ASUS on Christmas from a relative, and I would like to know if it's a good card, or should I go to the store she bought it from and try to get me an NVidia card instead?

the radeon 3870 is not a bad card, it's great for the price, but an nvidia 8800 GT is definitely faster (and more expensive, but still effordable).
If you want to play crysis, get an 8800 GT, if you don't care about crysis then I'd just stick to the 3870. it's fast enough for everything but crysis, and no card is really fast enough for crysis, the 8800 gt might let you play on high-very high while the 3870 will only let you play medium-high.

There is not a single instance where the HD 3870 Crysis performance comes close to that of of the 8800 GT.

defintely worth 20€ extra.
If it was 50€ or more then it'd be a difficult decision but for 20€ the extra performance is worth it.

you guys dont read what i write , if it wont run on a 3870 properly it wont run on a 8800gt either , and vice versa.
PC gaming isnt about a poorly optimized game , for everything else those cards are still overkill , have fun with your new card.

personal remarks only prove im right my friend , i use CRT cause i want to , 2 years old , great colors , no native res etc , i dont tell you to what to spend your money on either or make fun of your LCD.

Yup my bro ran Crysis just fine on decent settings with a 8800gt, upgraded from a 1950xt. HUGE difference. Anyways its a good card, you should be happy with it.

Goodness! I just got my 8800 GT, manufactorer LeadTek, if that makes any difference.
Now I need a good game to try it out on, a good game that is, I've already completed Crysis, alas on my old 7950 card, but looking for something else!
So if you have any suggestions, please, dont hesitate to tell me.

Also if you have HL2, give this mod a shot: http://www.smod-tactical.com/
Have been alternating between this mod and Crysis and UAW for the last few weeks and can't get enough of any of these games.
Besides the mod making hl2 a totally different experience(better AI, headshots count, body armor, tons of awesome weapons, bullets penetrate some cover), it also makes the game look 10x better with DOF, motion blur, vertex blur, improved special effects. So yeah, it kicks major ass.
