In the pre-release pilot I saw there was some huge Arnie`esk Terminator...
There is some girl Termi she`s a new version! |
so all the 'new' terminator's are 5 foot tall, 110lbs chicks?
Like T3....the bad terminator wasnt convincing. I dont want eye candy, i want action you know?

the problem with having a female terminator is not the fact of gender but rather how its used... its just a cheap tactic to get some chick sweaty and in tight clothes to get all the teens to tune in for a little soft porn... it was the same shit with terminator 3... its not the gender, its the lame tacky way in which they are used for these films.

well im not a silent hill fan so i dont really give two weasels about any story changes, but i can tell you this much, its one of the ONLY video game adaptations done by a guy who actually likes games and has any integrety as a filmmaker... definately cant say that shit about uwe or any of the others.
you guys need to realise that NO game will EVER translate even remotely well to film unless you change the story... thats not saying game stories arent great and well written, but movie and game are 2 completely different mediums, and what works well in one, wont necessarily work well in the other!
not saying that justifies how they butchered the story in doom or anything... goddammit i want my fucking demons from hell, how hard can THAT be to get right... how difficult was THAT to translate from game to movie, YEESH!!!

because many things happen in games simply to move forward the gameplay itself, but not the story... think about games that require you to talk to person a to get an irrelivant mission to find something for person b so that he'll give you something to take to person c who will give you a bit more information to further the story...
large amounts of story are about going from place to place getting little bits of information so that the story can come together over the progress of the game - it doesnt seem stupid while you play it, because you realise that a game requires you to progress piece by piece through the story, but if you were to actually sit down and WATCH a gameplay sequence as a movie, it'd seem ludicrously idiotic...

So why not do that in a movie too? Only problem is with the games with two or more endings cause you gotta choose one (and perhaps put other on dvd as extra or sth)

I don't what it would SEEM, because i never saw a movie filmed just like the game's progress.
I would agree about one thing. Let's say someone films an rpg game - Fallout, Baldur's Gate, u name it. There is a problem - what would be the correct chain of events. Still, you could always take only the main quests and put them in order just like it was in the game.
And why couldn't Resident Evil be done like the game (first part)? Abandonded house, zombies, dogs jumping from the windows etc. It could be real good.
Only problem in filming linear games is that someone who played the game will know what happens next. Still, it's not a cause to change the plot.

well i think changing the plot is silly, yes, but what i was getting at, is that games either need to be adjusted or added too... doom again is a great example... theres DEFINATELY not enough plot there to sustain a 90 minute movie, unless you add story too it.. same with mortal kombat... good guy, defeat shao kahn in battle to save earth... yeah thats a 20 minute movie tops...
a movie would be boring if it was a case of 'go here, clear this room of zombie dogs, move to room 2 clear room of zombie humans, go to room 3 kill monsters etc... yes it'd be a dream for those of us who would love to see a 90 minute non stop kill-a-thon, but im sure even I would eventually get tired of that, when theres only like 20 minutes worth of plot...
im sorry i cant think of any good example at the moment... i tend to find many sequences in games that i play where i think 'this'd never work as a movie', but tend to forget them as i move on... i cant think of any exclusive sequences, but the next game ill be playing - crysis - i bet i could find plenty...

Well, i would still like to see movie made like that. Let's take Stranglehold - the game is just like John Woo movies with Fat (i mean the actor ) so it would no problem to film. Still those movies are a bit dull for me.
In order to avoid doing schematic movies it would be better to film games like those i mentioned, especially rpg games. Lets take fallout. I think tv series fallout would be the best cause you can squeeze all those quests and wasteland trips into the series.
I WANT "FALLOUT" - THE TV SERIES!!
