game is great , love the story , but hated that the first part of Phantasy Star Universe had this crap "need net to play single player mode" , and the only working crack that removed this GameGuard protection to play without net made turned the whole txt into Chinese Sad

this stand-alone expansion also seems to need an internet connection for single player to work.... an error message saying "...cannot connect to Gameguard servers.... try changing firewall settings..." appears....

Is there anyway around this?... the computer I'm trying it on doesn't have an internet connection....(hence, no firewall or anti-virus programs either)

(EDIT : ok, I did a little checking, and it seems that you need to be connected to the internet to d/l some Gameguard files so... offline=unable to play?....)

You are right it did download some update when I first started it so perhaps it requires a connection to work properly.

Game itself is OK, nice character customization, especially ones I learned about the shift key to change various colours and sizes.
(You can even adjust the breast size on females together with height and width, made a super fat robot thing but scrapped her and created a beast character since I prefer close combat, kinda looks like I child compared to the other NPC's, probably went too far with the customizer.)

Rather odd that I began the game with a sonic and tails statue in my inventory but atleast the room you use has some decoration now.
(Then again it's a Sega game.)

What's your problem? Don't have internet connection to run the game but still download gigabytes of games? Or maybe you just like to whine al the time because most people on nforce do that? The game was designed mostly for multiplayer, like all other Phantasy Star games. Internet connection required, no questions. Unless you live in the cave you should have it Rolling Eyes

Maybe some of us have other PCs and friends's PCs not connected to the internet. Or maybe we don't want to allow every little shit past the firewall, just for the fuck of it.

you made a typo there ... and I KNEW IT you are one of 56% of people that think that having a computer without Internet , printer or scanner is not a computer - congratulations for your stupidity (i put in the same category people that think , Humans without Cellphones/Cars aren't human)

lets lot at this disease :
* It all started from Half-life 2 in 2004, the first game on the market that showed that you don't own a game on a media , that in reality your media its just a plastic shit
* Steam - the system of the corporate future with no support that needs all info about you
* 2007 Bioshock fiasco from 2k - Securom 7 Internet activation
* 2007 New Ubisoft tactics showed in The Settlers 6: Rise of an Empire , from SF crap to Tages Net activation

Show me one good reason why Single player mode for all games should need Internet to start a game

Keep whining. You still need an internet connection, and nobody cares if you like it or not.
Btw if THAT makes you feel better, i also think its pointless to require internet connection for single player games. But really, i dont care if its a requirement or not, its nothing to me.

Huh? What are you talking about? The protection worked perfect, 10 days without the crack - most of the game publishers cant even dream about such results
