Oh fuck! That game looks intense! AND without a lot Eye candy But I already have a difficult time playing Penumbra as my nerves can't handle it
But i still want to play this when it get's released
EDIT: I think I will have to preorder this, It's only 16$ and if 2000 preorder it before May 31, the costumers will get a commentary track in the game.
It looks like Penumbra + Alone in the Dark. Amnesia is on my top10 of games to be released in 2010. I bet it'll be a great horror game like Penumbra trilogy is.
DaggerXL: A The Elder Scrolls Chapter II: Daggerfall Engine Remake
It looks like it came from the stone age, graphics wise, but maybe gameplay will be ok, did not play Penumbra so dont know really.
Well Penumbra wasn't good looking either. You have to keep in mind that these games are made by a small Indie developer and they are not expensive for the costumer (I payed approximately 17 $ for Amnesia when I Preordered).
But the Penumbra games is some of the most scary games I have ever played (To hell with Resident Evil).
God looks so intense. Needed nearly change pants, when i was playing Dead Space. But this... seems to be really scary, not sure if its my kind of game, im sissy when it comes to horror games
Just finished the (very short) demo, obviously the game is pratically identical to Penumbra (both graphically and gameplay wise) with an amazing atmosphere and a huge amount of darkness. Though as I said the demo was too short and easy (it's basically the tutorial) to know how the full game will be
Fuck me! I just played the demo. I have Preordered this, but I don't know If I can handle the horror My heart just jumped several times and now I have Goosebumps
I didn't complete the demo since I couldn't figure how to raise the heavy gate in the archive.
Ps. Do I need to mention the Horror in the Water...Need...to...calm...myself...now

Very atmospheric to play in the middle of the night with headphones I even had a shiver going down my spine at one place, so i'm impressed so far.
They do know how to make it atmospheric / interesting graphically, but sound wise i find it too cluttered in a way that it gets almost comical. It would be far more efficient to have a few sounds (where it matters) instead of bomarding you with it.
I'd love to play a game like this but without the scripted feel to it, that would take away the "smoke and mirrors"-effect.. AI's arent that fearsome if you know it's 100% scripited to be at once place or disabled when you reach a certain point etc.
to raise the gate you need to hit the lever then run like fuck from the thing in the water and before the gate closes, stay on the crates in the water as much as possible. You should just make it before the gate closes, leaving the thing stuck on the other side.
I have a hard time with horror, really had to push myself thru the Silent Hill series.
Omg!!! I didn't even get thru the demo, my lamp went out in the dark and I started hallucinating wierd crap all over my screen... quickly exited the game and watched some old Duke Nukem trailers. This game is gonna kick the crap out of me.
couldn't wait.. pants have been soiled
how come nobody else is even trying to do properly scary games?
all that's out there is twitch-fests like dead space or just spam blood everywhere and that's somehow scary
beyond this and the penumbra games the only ones i've found scary were system shock 2 and thief 1's pagan levels

I guess Amnesia only needs some spiders to make it the Total Horror experience

oo, spiders would be good
wouldn't be surprised if there were some
have a huge bunch of them
tiny ones that would run on the walls and ceiling that you couldn't hide from
i'm not really afraid of spiders nor thought they were scary in thief or ss2, but here they could work
the concept of something fragile and dumb whose only power is it's numbers is terrifying to me
like hitchcock's birds, romero's zombies or fox news viewers (cthulhu is in the board of directors, i'm sure of it!)
oh, apparently i've had darkness within games downloaded for almost a year.. will have to give them a shot soon
