Hello all. My D-Link 604 Router died on me yesterday. The replacement for a 2 week period til the new one arrives is a Pheenet "BIG-01/4A".

When i first bought my 604 D-link, i connected the modem to it, then connected my 2 pc's to it and the internet worked without even setting up or changing any settings at all. So ive been used to the last 3 years of plug in and work. (wish i didnt take it for granted so much).

Anyway. I tried this evening. I connected my PC and modem (ISP = NTL 4mb) to the Pheenet router. I then turned everything on. I notice in my PC toolbar at the bottom right the two little monitor icons. They say connected. Hoorar! i say to myself, its working straight away... WRONG.

I tried to connect to the web and nothing. Not a thing. I went on to the manual for the router and typed the default user/pass for access. The setup screen appears after i log in. I click "setup wizard" and follow the steps. NTL doesnt require any information as far as im aware, since the 604 ran from default without any of these settings changed. So i put in what needs to be there, and click ok. The router
reboots...

Still nothing. So i check through the manual and have done all the troubleshoots and yet the router is not letting either pc access the internet. Im typing this now connected directly into my NTL modem.

Does anyone have anything which will help the problem? I really need to get some work done!

Well i dont know if that help but my connection is a 10Mbit but my router doesnt support that so i had a lot of problems because of that. Maybe go to your Windows control panel and check the properties of your network card. Thats what i did for a temp fix. Router works but i loose a lot of speed. Its a linksys so not the same has you but worth to take the time to check properties with your network card.

Hello, i would start off fresh and power down all the PCs or anything connected to the router and then reset the router and modem and after you restart the router and modem, start your PCs and , i had changed one of my routers to a gateway and forgot about it ,then i gave it to a friend and he couldn't get online oops, it happens. good luck
