So I wanna OC my ram, preferrably so i can run 1:1 with my CPU. Problem is im pretty new to memory OC´ing Razz

My ram is 4 gigs of Corsair XMS2 6400/800 C5, and my E6750 is clocked to 3 ghz (375mhz fsb)

Any ideas, help, suggestions, all welcome Smile

There is a pretty good tut for RAM OCing here.
But its for the EVGA 680i, but I guess you could start with looking at that.

On the EVGA you have "LINKED" in the bios, so its very easy to set up a 1/1 config for the ram.

To have your RAM in 1:1 with your CPU you can simply push the FSB to 400Mhz, it will give you an easy 3.2Ghz (8x400, 20% o/c) with your stock cooler. Check the northbridge temperature when pushing the overclock.
You can also decrease the multiplier, e.g. with 400x7 = 2.8Ghz, if you don't want to overclock the CPU that much.

Well i bumped the FSB up 400, then i couldnt get into windows, was too unstable Razz Then again, i didnt up the Vcore..

Now however, the SPD in the BIOS shows 750, and now its 1:1. But is the memory downclocked now?

Try to up the ram voltage if it can't boot (use Everest to get the actual value first), you shouldn't reaaly need to increase the vcore for 3.2Ghz, and yeah the ram will be downclocked a bit if you stay at 375 FSB and in 1:1.
Always try to overclock the components individualy first to see what will be possible for each, by deceasing the CPU multiplier while increasing the FSB you will soon see at which point your ram will start to need more voltage and how much to remain stable.

And check your temps FFS, especially when you tweak voltage

From what I have read in the past, 1:1 ratio only was important for older chipsets, like the Athlon XP mobos and before, when you either ran at this ratio or killed a ton of performance. I think people have run at all kinds of crazy ratios and shown no benefit whatsoever from 1:1 on todays chipsets.

Anyways also from my personal testing, when dealing with ram, tweaking timings are much more important than raw mhz for ram.

And always run stress test like orthos and superPI anytime you tweak something and check stability. Tho memtestx86 is better for ram testing.

Well, i now run my CPU FSB at 400, giving me 3.2 ghz, with the memory at 800 mhz so i do have 1:1

Temp is around 40c idle, havent tried any load yet.. Will buy a better cooler later though.
